Now that I've been studying your system for 6 months or so, it's awesome to go back and see the application of the " fundamental shapes" to some of the jazz standards. Love this type of video. Thanks!

Very nice arpeggios..I have used the BEAD system A person that is struggling can say bead g c f..then the same thing with b after each note Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb which is enharmonic equivalent. Picking a few things up.

Hi Christiaan!! Thank you for sharing your approach about jazz improvisation in all your videos. It is good to see it!!. I only have one question. I saw you in a DC violin lesson and you play the arpeggios over this song and others. It is confusing to me. I thought you considered these kind of exercises (I mean arpeggios/scales/modes) a waste of time. Is it because you recommend it if we are talking about our main instrument?? Or it is just an old way of thinking and now you think that is better to learn licks than scales and arpegios.

My approach is different on different instruments. Violin is most logical with arpeggios and scales because you can't use moveable shapes due to the nature of the instrument, so you have to be aware of individual notes. Guitar is the perfect instrument for moveable shapes, thus I choose licks and shapes for guitar.

How are you creating those licks , do I have to learn Jazz guitar ?

Thanks for the video - really appreciate it. Genuine question: How is this "Improvise on All of Me like a pro" rather than "learn these cool lines/licks I wrote for All of Me"? There is a difference between improvising on the fly and playing someone else's [yours/anyone else's] solos & lines, right? Surely a video on "how to improvise" would mean teaching *how to improvise* on these changes and not just play these lovely, but very particular and specific, lines you have written from memory.

Yes but you can use the licks that he teaches and make variations on them. Also teaching the theory on how to improvise on these chords is quite simple, it won't give you great soloing lines tho because you can only play boring scales/arpegios on the chord changes. It's far more useful/productive to learn proper jazz vocabulary and make variations on what works

dude E to A to D is moving in fourths not fifths. I realize that the circle of fifths backwards moves in fourths but this is misleading. This video sucks.
