3:35 This is a bit misleading. Calculating the Δv of a multi-stage rocket is a bit more complicated. The normal Tsiolkovsky rocket equation is Δv = Isp*g0*ln(m0/mf). For the Δv of the first stage of a two-stage rocket, the mass of the seconds stage counts towards the dry mass of the first stage. If a rocket has two stages, with the 1st having an m0 of 1,000 kg and mf of 100 kg, and the 2nd having an m0 of 500 kg and an mf of 50 kg, and both with an Isp of 300s, the equation for the Δv of the first stage is Δv = 300*9.8*ln((1000+500)/(100+500)), and the equation for the second stage is Δv = 300*9.8+ln(500/50). Sorry for the mistake in the video.

Really great explanations. If you can't explain something simply, then you don't understand it well enough. You're precise without being inaccessible to the layman. Great job, keep making videos and keep doing what you love!

Why nobody says "Not only the magnitude of force applied to an object is a factor for further kinetic calculations, but also duration of applied force is an important factor; and IMPULSE is a property indicating the combination of those two.factors". I think this is the easiest explanation of IMPULSE.

You specific impulse equation at 1:12 is wrong. It is Isp = Ve/9.8m-s^-2. In your equation, you are thinking that delta_t is the specific impulse when it is the time burn.

i'm a bit late, but i need you boss man, i'm really struggling with ksp interstellar parts and i want to build an orbital repair ship capable of prolonged and precise manoeuvring capabilities (1< TWR < 1.5 and ISP > 3000) i need to be able to rdv with debris, grab it, deorbit them and then do a "saving" burn to stay in orbit without touching the karman line. It should be able to do several missions without refueling, in high to low kerbin orbit.

Would impulse change with the amount of fuel?
@billybot30003 ай бұрын
Yes, but specific impulse would not. Specific impulse is dependent on the efficiency of the engine, so it would not change, while impulse is just force x time, and adding more fuel would increase burn time, increasing impulse.
