I think it would be more interesting to build a replacement DC-DC converter to power the last remaining section of the original amplifier and return it to full functionality.

nice little amplifier, and very cool project & series. I like your idea of making a standalone amplifier. Would be really cool to see the output transformer design for "those" frequencies. you would end up with a nice little 23cm amp when your are finished entertaining us!! 🤓 Maybe do a chip-of-the-day on those FETs?

Yep, chip of the day has been done on the FET's :-)

The final 3db splitter is probably cutting your power in half without the other phase matched side there? That would bring it much closer to the expected 15 W per side.

Back to the power supply.

Bypass the front end filter and sweep from 0.4GHz to see if it could be used in the 70cm band. I know the data sheet for the PA chips only showed 0.5Ghz but that doesn't mean they won't work at 0.4Ghz.

6 watts of what ? What is the driving frequency ? I guess I'm clueless. Are you sweeping the full range 1ghz to 2ghz ??

at 1GHz

If you watch the video he sweeps it from 1GHz to 2GHz.
