Seems like it would be easier to have contraceptives in the water or something

we don't have to though; we already have declining birthrates at alarming rates

But the premise of the movie is totally BS. Our current population has already made earth's resources unsustainable. A 3 times larger population will cause famine, war followed by pandemic. There'll be very few govt. left to run any kind of bureau.

Science nerd nitpick just after the 3:15 mark: The apartment building housing the 7 identical sisters uses a retinal scan as a security measure to verify identity prior to entry to a tenant’s individual unit. But wouldn’t such a security measure lead to the sisters being discovered by the government? Identical siblings don’t have the same retinal patterns. So, based on the rules of the society, only the sister who was actually registered as the “only child” should be able to use the retinal scan feature, right?

Yet another role Glenn Close should have gotten an Oscar for or at least a nomination. The actress who played Catherine was also excellent 👍🏼

Okay so the genetically-modified food somehow makes multiple births common. That doesn't really make sense but sure. Wouldn't it be easier to just abort all but one of the fetuses than to do all of this?

My thought is that this sci-fi film is not so far from reality than we think. The UN Pact for Peace reduces production of food based only on the assumption that there is an optimal level of CO2.

The Western populations have the opposite problem.
@Frankie2012channelАй бұрын
Yes. Sad but true. But ALL populations (even the ones who used to have massive growth, even THEIR birthrates are slowing down). Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Italy, France, Britain, etc. are all collapsing. Remove the changes created by immigration, when you analyze the native populations, All native populations are collapsing because all the new generations aren't getting married and not having children. Even in West Africa where the replacement rate used to be 7 to 1 has dropped down to 4 to 1. Some other areas (like the Middle East) have just over replacement levels, when for decades they were the biggest growing population. If current trends continue, we will have a huge spike in world population in 1-2 generations (because of all the old people) and then have a sudden and drastic collapse because none of the Gen Z or Gen Alphas are having kids.
@estelle7632Ай бұрын
@@Frankie2012channelWtf are you saying. It’s not about the latest genertion not wanting kids because of selfishness or whatever. It’s about developing countries achiving their demographic transition too because of a lower mortality rate and and better access to contraception. Then, when the transition is done, the population stagnate, or reduce a little. Which is not a bad thing, only one thing wants you to believe that: capilalism. The only temporary issue is to manage the retirement system between those generations. And if people were more open-minded istead of listening to their fear of others and hatred, it’s an issue that could be easily solved with current immigration . So maybe stop trying to force parenting on people who are not interested because you are so in love with the current system that already destroy the planet.

to believe the overpopulation threat you would have to believe that God didnt know what HE was doing with creation.
@mikususins17672 күн бұрын
That threat is made up. You don't have to believe in God to know that, just look at the researches that propagate it at you notice they have a lot of mistakes and a lot factors not calculated in them. Earth can support population at least ten times as large as it is today.
