Gabi's recommended fasting supplements:
I am not a medical professional. This is only my opinion and my experience.
When fasting for 20 hours or more I recommend taking electrolytes... my preferred electrolyte brand is LMNT variety pack. When fasting 36 hours + I like to drink warm bone broth powder (brand paleo valley) with unflavored LMNT... this is also good if you are doing a super long fast and wanting to re-feed. LMNT and Paleo Valley brand bone broth powder can be obtained on Amazon. Do not do fasts longer than 40 hours without doing some research. If you are underweight or underage consider an equally difficult alternative to fasting such as carnivore. With all things use prudence and consult a physician if you have any questions.

Thank you Gaby, this video was an answer to my prayers. I had an abusive husband for 8 years who is a narcissist. Till this day, even after the divorce, he still enjoys harrasing me and poisoning my 7 year old son against me. I found this to be true. The old Latin tradition is to fast every day during Lent, even Sundays until 3 p.m. No meat, eggs, or dairy throughout Lent. Then, also, throughout the year, every quarter, there are ember days. Three days to pray and fast for our priests.

Gabi I’ve always tried to imagine the scene of whichever decade I’m praying years before I knew about mental prayer, but recently I’ve been trying to pray 4 rosaries a day (to beat a mortal sin) but in order to do that I pray the rosary while driving to/from work as that’s the only time I have - it’s hard to concentrate on the road and be so focused on each mystery 😂 surely god understands that I’m doing my best?

At the Solemnity of Pentecost I got fully baptized into the Holy Spirit. No kidding. I'd never been to this mass as a Catholic. 2 yes ago I got confirmed. Anyways when our priest was going around the Cathedral and splashing Holy water on us as the Most Beautiful prayer/hymn was being sung I got hit from behind with the water and I felt it pierce me through and as it pierced it shoved out the negative that has held me in thrall. I am free. I am 70 years old and He gave me back myself. The person I was always supposed to be and I'm so humbled. This mental prayer got me here. Perseverance. The woman being stoned for adultery at the Temple in front of our Lord was who I used to be and worse. God is Live and He is real and He wants to give Himself to us. Please let Him.

So should I completely just not eat anything those 40 hours. I’m asking to be crystal clear not to complain or anything. This might be a dumb obvious question but should I fast from nicotine and caffeine also in addition to not eating. And just to be clear it is completely from any food whatsoever correct. A final question is that I have to take my multivitamin with iron everyday but it says take with food. When I have taken it without food, I get nauseous, but that is the worst part of it so it’s not like I go into shock or pass out. So should I eat a piece of bread for that or should I purposely get the nauseousness and also offer that up. I am asking these things so I have a clear task and purpose with very defined guidelines and so I know not to divert from it.

Vitamins are fine. I recommend no food. Zero calories, except for your electrolytes. Check out the video I linked in the description. Up to you if you want to do coffee or caffeine. Pray about it.

So everything depends on $ and time. I am currently using website called HeyGen and it can translate audio into any language and it recreates the face to match the words so 90% of the audience would have no clue it wasn't originally in French... BUT.... it's costly.... $500 a month for only 90 minutes of translation. And there needs to be a little basic editing in some parts. I simply can't do it, but if you want to... I can make all the video files available to you for you to have translated and the minor edits to be done. IT would be a major commitment.... on your behalf, but the spiritual benefit would be that God will repay you a hundredfold.

This all is nice, but guarantees nothing. You can’t change God’s mind with your works (and I am saying this a a catholic) and volume or style of prayer

I agree... nothing is a guarantee, but God wills that you pray and ask. God also wills that you fast. God also sometimes requires a lot of prayer before saying yes. I have known a case where a priest was begging for a healing and didn't obtain it until after having spent all night in fervent prayer. Another example read the wedding feast of Cana... the mind of God was changed by the mother of God.

@@gabiafterhours I agree. Prayer, fasting, all these things are asked of us and I especially like the fact God invites us to cooperate in this way with Him when praying for others. Takes a lot of courage, perseverance and trust. The more in situations when one repeatedly is not heard, God remains silent, or things on tye very contrary happen when prayed for. (That is my experience of years - I tend to receive often the very oposite than what I am praying for, sickness when asking for health of someone, failure when I ask for success, silence when I ask for directions/discernment etc.)

My brother do not be discouraged... when Jesus prayed to the Father to remove the chalice from him... he didn't he sent suffering. Suffering and sacrifice is a sign of God's favor... it used to be a curse... but in hard times we are invited to identify with Christ and play a part in the salvation of the world. Keep your head up. Remain close to Mary, she makes the cross sweeter.

I did my mental prayer by saying the words in my mind word for word. Any petitions would start in the beginning so as not to break whatever inspirations or meditation from one decade to the next. I did this for more than a year before switching back to oral trying to chew and digest these words. Still the whole mystery may take 2 to 3 times longer than most people. Unfortunately I discovered the mind is like an onion full of layers of thoughts. Your attitude and true intentions should be pure and sincere.

Do not receive the Eucharist (a sacrament of the living) until you receive Confession (a sacrament of the Dead). Even after a perfect act of contrition you may or may not have made… you might be in grace but until you receive the sacrament of confession do not receive the sacrament of the Eucharist

Fasting in Catholicism is not simply not eating at all. This is simplistic and totally inaccurate. Fasting can mean reducing meals (ie two smaller meals per day), cutting out snacks, eating only bread, salt and drinking only water. I would advise people to get proper advice from their priest on this. In the same way, no meat on Fridays is really about sacrifice. If you don’t like meat or have an indulgent no meat meal, it’s not a sacrifice.

I love the FFI!!! When I used to live in Connecticut I had 2 friends who were 3rd order Franciscans with them and they used to organize Day With Mary one day retreats with Friars at different parishes in our diocese. You won't get any fluff when they come to your parish and preach, 1000% solid Catholic teaching!!!!

I've actually decided a few weeks ago that I will be fasting 40 hours weekly starting Friday 3pm until Sunday morning. I haven't actually started yet but this video has motivated me. I have a lot of areas in my life that need fasting and prayer.

I was scrolling through the comments yours struck me, this is such a beautiful idea. Since the fast ends at 7am it would be amazing to end with mass at that time. This would be such a beautiful way to end Holy Week.
