Great video. I am Atokun here in the diaspora and we use masquerade a lot. Thank you for educating me on the proper way to speak or call Egungun. Continue to be great!

To Our OLUWO: this for years have translated my own thoughts/questions, on this very topic. People such as the Reverend Crowder, has in fact brought great damage to the indigenous peoples wherever they are/have been! This book “ the History of the YORUBA “, was masterfully published. It accomplished, it’s goals and objectives Worldwide, as it derailed a great deal of real Values of such a Peoples. Again, you un-veiled the true etymology-of language, culture, and spirituality “ true values “! o ṣeun pupọ

Peace, Aderonke. It would be really helpful and insightful if you included sources you use for your definitions, meanings, analyses (i.e. dictionaries, discussions with elders, etc.) if possible. Keep up the great work!

Alafia Aderonke! Modupe! Another insightful lesson. I do have a question I hope to will answer regarding the letter ‘n’. As I listen to you, in some cases it sounds like you don’t pronounce the letter ‘n’ at all. In other cases the letter seems to be expressed as a very faint nasal sound, and less often I can actually hear the letter pronounced though not as fully as in English! If you can find the time, would you please clarify these differences for me? This lesson on Egúngún really made the differences stand out to me! Thank you very Much!

When “n” makes up a syllable, like in the statement “mò ń ṣeré" (I am playing), it’s pronunciation is more pronounced. The nasal vowel “un” is in the syllable “gún" in “egúngún,” so it doesn’t sound the same. I explained it in this video, but I’ll make a new one just for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3S7c5WbZpp2gKM

@@yorubalessons Alafia Adérónkẹ́! Thank you for your response and the offer to make another video on this topic. I didn’t mean to burden you in that way! I did listen to the other video previously but I guess it will take a little more time for the ‘n’ to sink in! Modupe!
