@@pinayenglishteacher Good day Maam. I'm an elementary English Teacher. How is really POEM pronounced? two syllables PO-EM or one syllable PHOM? I'm not brainy just a trying hard learner of English but according to one of our English textbooks it is a 2-syllable word and should be prounced po-em stressed in the first syllable. I even made a lot of research about how native prof. speakers of English and they clearly pronounce it with 2 syll. But why i still hear many educators in our country pronounced it in 1 syll. and others say both are accepted. I hope i'll not be misunderstood but my only point is...although i'm not really good at pronouncing words in English but bcoz i'm an English teacher in elem. at least i could give the correct way of pronouncing some commonly mispronounced words in English. Anyway, thanks for your vlogs i'm learning a lot from it and looking forward to your next vlogs. I've been studying a lot but still i feel very poor in English. Siguro dahil walang makausap palagi na english speaker. Iba kasi kapag may application kaysa naririnig lang hehe. Thanks, Keep safe and God bless.
@pinayenglishteacher4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Nora! Yes, it is correct that POEM has 2 syllables when you pronounce it. When you're in doubt about the "right" pronunciation of an English word, I suggest you look it up in an online English dictionary. One good online dictionary I can recommend is Cambridge Dictionary. Search for the word then click on the audio/speaker icon to be able to hear how the word is pronounced (in American English and British English). I have a video where I briefly discussed this tip (Here ---> "Paano gumaling o matuto mag English | Improve your English Speaking Skills (by yourself)"). Pakihanap nalang sa channel ko hihihihi... I've been quite busy lately and this is the only time I have this week for reading and replying to comments. I wish I had more time to squeeze "KZbin activities" into my busier schedule. Thanks so much for watching my vids. :D
