Thank you for producing important content and relevant subject matter that documents the changes we are seeing in Chinatown. There really needs to be a discussion of how we can preserve the identity of Chinatown so that we don't lose it forever to another soulless development. How is it possible in a city with so many Chinese immigrants that Chinatown is disappearing?

Chinese immigrants are no longer those that come from poverty or low socioeconomic status, rather they are affluent mainland chinese individuals that don't see, or need the institutions built around Chinatown. It's unfortunate, but we are seeing a shift in paradigm especially amongst 2nd generation canadian born chinese youth that are assimilated into the western culture here.

For a community to thrive, to live, and to do business, it has to have some law and order. The addicts chased the locals away. As long as that is a problem, the Chinatown of old will never come back. People want the mom and pop shops, the hong kong style restaurants, the fishermongers, grocers, Chinese BBQ. When the people left, the businesses will leave too. Can't sustain. And big corporate companies are crushing the mom and pop shops also. And that is all over, not only Chinatown.
