Jimmy is such a low-key personality, yet on stage his dynamics are the polar opposite - the quiet refined demeanor transforms(ed) into the dynamo that is Led Zeppelin. Like the way he transfixes on the poster - Jimmy's always been a music historian, and that little sequence shows it quite well.

funny that you say that. i'm a huge zep fan and never thought about that. (I was shocked the first time i heard how soft-spoken Page is.) Ha: I'm the precise opposite. I'm a loudmouth goofball who takes over any room.... and I used to do guitar sorcery in a fun band in NYC called CHINK Floyd (tall asian frontman with long black hair coined it)... and one day the asian guy's wife remarked "your guitar playing is the PRECISE OPPOSITE of your personality!" @T J Did you click on this video just to comment about Lori Maddox? FFS! In interviews Lori claims it was a wonderful relationship and that she wouldn’t change a thing. Girls were getting married at 17 and 18 ALOT at that time in history. No, I never had a 15 year old girlfriend when I was 25,26,27. But she wasn’t kidnapped. Her parents knew where she was. I dare say if you met her at that time you would not have been able to say, without her telling you, how old she was. She looks 18-20 years old from the pictures I’ve seen. My points are these: There are many super rich Hollywood/business men who date /marry really young girls even today. If you would’ve been the guitarist for one of the biggest bands in the world in the early 70’s I don’t think you could say with certainty that you would have turned her down. She was gorgeous. On the royalties claim, I’d like to see some links to your info on that. I know LZ has been sued many times but I’m not sure they were found negligent in any of those cases. And just curious, do you chase Roman Polanski videos and talk shit in the comments section of those? He drugged and then had sex with a 13 year old girl. Papa John Philips fucked his own daughter for Christ’s sake. Go virtue signal somewhere else. The shit is really old...

Jimmy Page is a modern day Mozart. His musical talent is so extreme that those of us without that talent can't comprehend how it is be to be him. It's alien. He's so modest and unassuming because his abilities and approach to music are just normal to him. It doesn't feel special to him, but it sure is special to us. He's not unique. People with extreme talent show up from time to time. But it is always a great privilege to listen to and experience someone like him. I've been a musician for almost 60 years and I'm an engineer. I've had the privilege to experience some extreme talents in different fields ranging from music, to mathematics, chemistry, and nuclear engineering, and it's fascinating. One thing I've noticed that's common but not universal with such people is they have a hard time putting their thoughts and feelings into words. Words can be limiting when your abilities are that far out. Jimmy Page often struggles with this, and you can see it in this video and many others of him. Imagine Mozart trying to explain how he could sit down and write out a symphony, straight off, as fast as a human can physically write music on paper. It can't be done. It can't be explained. It can't even be imagined by an ordinary person -- even one skilled in the art of music.

Thank you so much Fender and Jimmy Page. I’ve certainly made a down payment on a mirrored Tele, and it’ll be continuing the journey from an amateur KZbinrs perspective and a live perspective. I look forward to continuing the journey, and hope to do it justice.

I respect what they were doing, and the context of it, that they didn't do many interviews or other pop-music type of promotion, but after hearing an interview like this I feel like something may have been lost to posterity, something truly beautiful. Anyway this is really cool.

Might be the only “rock god” icon that can actually read and write music. Pretty unheard of for that era and genre of stars.

I know there are "better" guitarists, but this guy and the story are just magical and the personification of rock and roll for me.

Why did you start your sentence off that way?
@warner6315 жыл бұрын
@@tolvarr in a technical sense. He really is a little sloppy with his playing. There are virtuosos who are better at timing and are faster etc... But he is my favorite. He made innovations in sound and production, but made them so amazing that general public found them approachable. Just pure genius
@tolvarr5 жыл бұрын
@@warner631 You need to check out "Dazed and Confused" from "The Song Remains the Same". An example of an improvising virtuoso with great speed and timing along with intense emotion and feel.

Tfw you record a monumental album in music history with just a tele, an amp and two pedals
@murialgoldman56705 жыл бұрын
You don't need pedals to sound good. Just a good guitar and good amp are enough, ask Angus young
@metalmulisha01435 жыл бұрын
Nobody is saying you do but it's incredible the breadth of sounds on the album from so little equipment, like Jimmy stated already I guess
@artysanmobile5 жыл бұрын
metalmulisha0143 Yes, their first two albums were sonically stunning and filled with visceral performances. I remember that firsthand as they changed my life and the direction of my band at the time as well as many to follow. Led Zeppelin II, particularly, is still to this day a production masterpiece. I can remember hearing Heartbreaker for the first time and felt like I had to hold onto something or I’d be blown away by the emotional storm. I had just seen them perform the entire first album and Heartbreaker was the only new and strange song at the show. The live version was so primitive in comparison to the record it was almost unrecognizable. Interesting note: he used a small single-speaker combo amp on a chair at that outdoor show for roughly 10,000 people.

The man knew how to produce records. For as great as the other three were, when you listen to a Zeppelin record, you’re essentially listening to the sound of one man. It’s quite often overlooked but if you research some of the techniques he was using in the studio...way ahead of the time. The reason why the Zeppelin records are some of the very best sounding records ever made is because of Jimmy Page.
