Ban dog meat. Period. Dogs are not for eating. We nagas need to stop insinuating to the whole world that we are a group of tribals who eat dog meat. It was never a part of our culture technically. Head hunting was. But we stopped that for good reasons. It's time we moved on from our tribal mindset. How would we look if we still hunted heads and justify that by saying that it is our culture. Dogs are meant for the company of humans. It is atrocious to see them being abused by these so called dog meat sellers. No naga is going to die or no development is going to come by us not having dog meat. There are so many nagas who keep dogs as their own kin. Time to move on from thi tribalistic mindset!

There are different kinds of dogs. We don't want German Shepherd, nor costly one but sota zat which is naughty trying to bite others that should be eaten pucca. I too love dogs but when it comes about eating I have to say bye , bye if they are naughty.😎 Let's not trace back British history but let's see the present context. Sorry I don’t agree with her. Normal mongrel dogs (street dogs) and ‘high-value’ breed dogs have no difference. Dogmeat eating was also not part of naga culture. Folklore is replete with tales of friendship between humans and dogs, and dogs as the perfect companions were used for hunting wild animals and would follow humans everywhere they went. The practice of eating dogmeat is of British era origin when famine visited our hills. It then became a greedy habit for some. In naga rituals of old we know instances of cow sacrifice, pig sacrifice, Mithun sacrifice, chicken sacrifice, but never of dog or cat sacrifice. So it is totally wrong to say dogmeat eating is part of our old culture. Understand that there is a majority of naga households that don’t eat dog or cat meat. In fact, it is looked down upon. And no, the dogmeat that are sold in hotels and in the open, one wouldn’t know their origins. It could have been somebody’s beloved pet that was stolen by dognappers. Thieves. I don’t think nagas are that desperate for dogmeat. There are other choices. So please quit generalising that nagas eat dogmeat. The govt should enforce the ban and arrest all those peddling in dogmeat in the Dimapur supermarket, Eros line and elsewhere. They can run their homes by selling chicken, fish and vegetables. Nobody is going to die because they don’t get dogmeat.

Get off your high horse dude. It's very easy for you to tell the vendors to sell chicken, fish etc instead of dog meat but in reality, it's extremely difficult to change or set up a new business. Unless you or the government can provide an alternative source of income, you do not have the right to take away their only existing source of livelihood.
