I could not believe 1,000 off-duty London police officers and staff members awoke up at 5:30 am in the morning to attend live online with His Holiness to listen to his advice on compassion. What is really the driving force? I think the answer lies in the fact that the whole world needs a genuine spiritual leader to guide us in this very difficult time on the planet Earth. We are facing too many issues that simply capitalism and materialism cannot help. Look at those smiling faces at the beginning of the live broadcast. His Holiness brings hope, love, and compassion to all of us, regardless the race, color, nationality, age, gender, believer or non-believer. Long live His Holiness. I pray for your good health and long life to 110 years old and even beyond to continually benefit all sentient beings. And How fortunate we are living in the era of the 14th Dalai Lama. Rejoice!

Wonderful. The boys (and girls) in blue, and a very wise old Buddhist monk seeking answers to very real problems. Things like this really make me feel that we could be getting somewhere. It may take a long time, with a lot of pain along the way, but if you think that not so many years ago the mere idea of a very tough constabulary full of persons facing the worst of the human condition getting into a conversation with the Dalai Lama would have been unthinkable. And now it's happening.

Deep respect to HHDL As someone who’s been following Buddhist teachings for decades and seeing the difference between Tibetans and westerners I see we westerners have more trauma in our society which undealt with gets projected into the world and becomes a vicious cycle , and I deeply believe that government money would be well spent on giving therapy and meditation in prisons to help them to face there own pain with kindness knowing this takes time and to understand that pain it’s self can be used as an object of meditation and growth , in Tibetan culture this is called the warrior turning inward to face them selfs an example is the saint called melirpa a murder who liberated himself and uncovered his true nature Pure Unchanging Awareness that which abides in us all !!! much respect to the police force and so moving to see your willingness to grow

I felt so sorry for Pauline, with her question about how to manage the effects of attending crime scenes day in day out. In many ways, most of the questions seemed to be about how to survive mentally in a job where they see terrible human to human actions every day. How to not become depressed and demoralized and somehow broken, to see such things and understand the terrible things people can do to each other. I am not sure HH really understood her question, but I don't criticize him for that, it was a pointed question in a broad public forum, streaming live, so his answer was rather general. If I could speak to Pauline, I would say that dedicated compassion practice really helps to ease the pain of knowing how terrible humans can be to each other. It seems strange and counter-intuitive that practicing compassion - possibly through Tong Len (breathe in pain and suffering, breathe out comfort and compassion) or through chanting Om Mani Padme Hum - would help us feel less distressed about human cruelty and barbarism, but in my experience, it works. I hope Pauline will be OK, bless you Pauline and bless HH Dalai Lama, bless us all :)

We are thinking of mutual interest rather than individual gain. And through non violence approach, we tried to achieve our goal as an autonomous nation. Seeking independence will lead to Major losses to both side as Tibetan and obviously to Chinese. Anyway thanks for your kind concern and support towards Tibet causes.
@premprakashjauhari27514 жыл бұрын
If Dalai Lama and Tibetan people living in India do not want total independence from cruel Chinese rule, then you all have no business to live in India. You must go to your autonomous Tibet immediately. India is otherwise a very populated country.

Feeling bad for the British police officer who is doubting himself. I can see how his holiness is trying to encourage him but I'm not sure he got it. Yes, we are all human and that is the portal to understanding others. Yet, without that early training in compassion his holiness is lobbying for, their are many people that the police officer will encounter who have abandoned themselves to raw animal emotions. I will think of that officer often when I myself am tired and need more breath to just proceed. Please anyone reading this, send up a prayer for this peace officer.

Don't take what he says lightly. This is high philosophy. It's simple but not so easy to live with awareness of the "deeper level" he talks about, It's amazing we can just click on a youtube video and sit at the feet of the master of meta thinking and compassion. Even just a few years ago this would have been much more difficult. don't waste the opportunity.

Resolve your inner turmoil, gain inner peace, practice compassion and kindness and your greatest challenge is your greatest teacher. So in a nutshell, education for all on how to do that and thinking what it is trying to teach you when you are up against your greatest challenge. Harmony starts with each individual doing their work..... I'm just copying another youtuber's comment. Everyone who felt the he give the wrong advice. Think about it, as generic as the advice goes, practising it really makes a difference.

I wish there were a way to contribute improvements to the closed captioning. I have some mild hearing loss and find closed captioning extremely helpful. However, the KZbin auto-captioning is TERRIBLE and in this video is kind of painful to read. ("in a piece" instead of "inner peace") I cannot help but think sadly of all the people who rely upon the captions even more than I, but who will have an even harder time deciphering what is being said. I was moved to volunteer some time to fix the captions, but I could not figure out any way to do so. I think KZbin used to allow this, so this makes me very sad that we cannot.
