My family is Venezuelan and Catholic, but my family has a deep history of worshipping Mary as a protector of us women since our family is primarily consistent of women. When I entered Greek Polytheism I felt called to Hera which I was confused by. Once I realized she had a very predominant cult in Calabria, Italy, it made sense to me: my family actually comes from Calabria, and I think at some point we went from worshipping Hera to worshipping Mary. It is just so beautiful to me that she has stayed by our side for so many generations!

Muses, draw near, and sing. Shining daughters of Zeus, sing, sing of our mighty Queen. From high Olympus, you, ox-eyed Hera, rule; adorn in glinting gems, in the finest of sliks, you watch over all, both men and Gods. The cooling breeze on a scorching day, the kiss of rain on a dry spell, the bond between lovers: these are your works. Oh, Lady of Argos, Lady of rich-grown Samos, hear my praise, hear my worship. Beloved of the Thunderer, beloved of men. Of you, Hera, we know life. Muses, knowers of art and history, thank you. Daughters of Mnemosyne, I praise.

Hera is a very important goddess in my praxis. I have in the past struggled to keep up with many aspects of my life. Protecting my home, maintaining it, cleaning it, nurturing my relationship with my partner, with my family, stepping up to protect myself and those who are linked to me either by kinship or bonds of close friendship. I didn’t realize until this video how much that had to do with me not having been successful in going through those moments of transition Hera has been associated to. Becoming an adult son, becoming a husband, becoming a leader at work, getting sober. But even though I messed those up when they happened, my veneration of Hera has been a big part in repairing them, I very often offer to her in gratitude, when (usually against my will) I make a responsible decision. I love her. Thank you so much for such a beautiful video! Oh and yeah, the femininity of her isn’t a deterrent for me to seek a connection with her at all, but then again, I’m a queer man so I guess that doesn’t matter much to me?

Hera led me to Hellenic polytheism… she is what I call a silent Patron in my practice, and I will forever be so thankful for her in the time of my life I needed her most. I love anyone who defends her. Also, side note your hair is slaying here.

I instantly made the connection between the three revered godesses (Hera, Athena and Persephone)and the three essential macronutrients - Cattle (Protein), Olives (Fats) and Grains (Carbs). Greeks did really know how to have a balanced diet

Hera of the Stars could derive from stars and "moving stars"-planets being used to order yearly life. Planting seasons, fesival cycles (often timed to off-peak subsistance activity.)

YOU are the modern Goddess of Greek Mythology! Thank you so much for sharing all this wisdom with us. I am new to your channel and previously watched one of your early videos. You've evolved a lot since then. I really appreciate the Sophia you share with us. Thank you!

About 1 year ago I was on vacation in Korinthos and I also decided to visit her temple in Argos (probably her second most important sanctuary, after Samos), which is only about 45 Kilometers south of Korinthos, and it was such a lovely expereince there! I worship Hera, I'm even very devoted to her and being at one of her sacred places just felt so amazing!

Great video Fel :) For me Hera has shown up in my life as a guiding force of sorts, absolutely regal in nature. Curiously I only started to research her history beyond marriage associations once she appeared in my life and not the other way around, and it's been like my practice informed my research and my research informed my practice because the more I did the more important she became on her own like actual historic research shows (side note, some moments of total awe because of Hera lead me to briefly believe that everything derives of her or is an aspect or her so I totally get every culture back then being quick to syncretize their deities with Hera lol). I could not help but laugh with the "goddess of transitions in women's life" part as my connection with Hera has actually started not so long ago when I started my transition (i'm a trans woman) so I can personally confirm that's an aspect of her haha. Apart from that, just wanted to thank you for the time and effort you always put in your vids have a good day :D

This is putting chills down my spine. I had been watching that Pierre Grimes video on the Chaldean Oracles, and he casually lists Hera as the second principle of being (vitality) which blew my mind. I sometimes worry I emphasize Vesta over Juno in my prayers. If Pierre is to be believed, she has a high ontological place, animating being until it agitates into mind (nous).

Hera came to me during a real ruff time in my marriage, actually it was a total surprise, I was doing a Hecate meditative journey into the liminal, any way Hera came unannounced to me during the cleansing portion of the journey. She then started to give me a bunch of marriage advice, and stuff. Ever since this encounter She pops up from time to time in my life and imparts wisdom and such, She stands as one of my three matron deities; Hecate, Aphrodite, and Hera . BTW I really like this video it was such an insightful thing and a much need resource to me. ❤❤❤ your way. Also I am not sure if you did a deep dive part 2 on Aphrodite/Inanna but I would love to see it when you do.

I have no proof yet no doubt hera was a cthonic goddess first, her fires festivals, the most popular ones, were celebrated at night and that made her be associated with the starry sky and the moon. He was then made a couple of zeus and stripped as much as possible from her cthonic aspects to make her become basically what we think "diwa" was (Diwa "she-zeus" is attested in mycenaean times, also sometimes as Dione mother of aphrodite).

im very new to hellenic polytheism, and unfortunately cannot be super open in my practice due to my christian family. personally i feel artemis led me to hellenism, ive always been interested in the stars and the moon and when i found out about hellenism her name kept appearing in my mind. i mainly pray to artemis and aphrodite. does anyone have advice for newbie hellenic polytheists? any advice/tips are welcome!!

Contemplation and doing activities related to a God's domain are excellent and traditional ways of worship. Especially activities that require mental or physical effort; it's a way of saying "even though life is struggle, I will not forget You." You can also express it as an interest in History and Geography. Learn about the different eras of Ancient Greece (Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman) and all the territories they occupied. I gained a whole new understanding of Hermes when I learned and saw images of the areas / roads between cities. These will give you a good foundation for when you aren't quite so constricted. If you are the type to pray, you can fall back on descriptions and not names. ie a quick prayer to the Protector of Travelers before going on a trip; or being thankful for a blessing without specifying Who it's from, "we give thanks for this food and the coming together of our Family."
