I mean… to be fair, kid shouldn’t even be on the sideline. He never has and never will play… not saying he lost them the game, but there’s no reason for kid to be on sideline in first place if he’s not a regular player

That's called "20-20 quarterbacking" as I heard an immigrant once put it-combing American expressions of "Monday Morning quarterbacking" and "20-20 Hindsight." The penalty was out of proportion with the offense.

"Accidentally ran into the ref." OR: Carelessly stepped into the path of the ref and cost his team a penalty.

Not even that. One of his feet just barely went over the line that restricted players on the sidelines from the field of play. A young man who got a bit too excited should hardly be treated as a criminal or a dirty player. This penalty was horrendously out of proportion with the "offense" committed.

Interesting how some people are blaming the official for being too far in .. but he was avoiding the ND player that was also running the down the sideline

I don’t believe it affected the outcome at all. However, his big toe was about all that was in the white. That is why I would had rather saw a sideline warning instead. If you want to blame anyone, blame Smart and his coaching staff for not getting 57 help on the blind side. It was obvious from early in the 1st quarter that they weren’t doing enough to protect a first time starting Qb.

He didn’t trip him up with his foot. He blindsided him with his upper body. It was a blatant penalty, and quite frankly should have been penalized from the original line of scrimmage . And yes, it probably cost them a TD which would have affected what happened from that point on. Don’t trivialize what he did. If something like that happened in a Soccer match in South America, you would find Parker in pieces

How can anyone defend what he did?
@CBNnewsonline
@CBNnewsonline 3 күн бұрын
The defense was not of his accidentally colliding with the referee. In the video the host said that was "inexcusable" and that it was clearly a penalty. The defense is in response to those blaming the loss on him and making him the scapegoat. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Well, the penalty was grossly out of proportion with any offense that was committed. One of Parker's feet was just barely over the line where he was restricted from being. He got excited on a big play and he misplaced one of his feet ever so slightly. That penalty should either not have been called or the penalty should be proportional to the degree of the offense and this penalty was horrendously disproportionate with the offense. The rule needs to be modified to give the referees some discretion on how severe the penalty should be similar to what used to the face-mask penalty. The penalty did harm Georgia's chance to score a touchdown and that did affect the outcome of the game in addition to the momentum change. It is shame that such a nit-picking penalty affected the game and could affect the future of a young man who did nothing wrong except for getting a bit too excited in the moment. My goodness!

@@christopherwarsh Unless my eyes are deceiving me, only one of his feet was about halfway over the line. That is what the rule requires-i.e. having one's feet behind that wide white area on the sidelines. So, yes, he was over that line, but just barely. The rule, as I say, should be modified so that there is some discretion given to the referees. This rule has zero to do with justice in the sense of promoting fair play, but only as a deterrent to keep coaches and players from coming onto the field during a play and obstructing the view and the movement of the referees. In this case, the referee could continue on following the play.
