Watching the clips of the final fight, I'm furious at myself for initially dismissing this show. To see that level of technical magic, on top of the insane physicality of both actors having to memorize and sell boxing choreography, and to see it all _live?_ I can only imagine it was unforgettable.

This musical was my gateway to the Rocky films and after years of hearing about them without having an opinion for myself, I found them even better than I thought they would be. I'm always curious to see if there is some love for the Rocky musical, whether it be from its Broadway production or its original Hamburg production.

I was actually curious to see this show, but it closed pretty quickly. The visuals look very good. While it might not have been feasible, I think they should have considered making it a straight play instead of a musical. I remember hearing, pretty much unanimously, most of the show was ho-hum but the boxing sequence was amazing. I don't really see Rocky as something you can effectively shoehorn song and dance numbers into. Big sets and spectacle are not something straight plays typically have, but I think it would have been worth considering keeping the spectacle and doing it as a play.
