There are 6 cases where Ibn Mujahid says that the canonical readers (taught by Allah to Jibreel to Muhammad) are wrong: 1) (Q. 2:117) and (Q. 19:35) kun fa-yakūnu was read fa-yakūna by Ibn ʿĀmir. Ibn Mujāhid objected to Ibn ʿĀmir’s reading of the subjunctive fa-yakūna, deeming this variant to be wrong. 2) (Q. 26:36) and (Q. 7:111) qālū arjih wa-akhāhu was read arjiʾhi by Ibn ʿĀmir → Ibn Dhakwān. 3) (Q. 6:90) fa-bi-hudāhumu ‿qtadih qul was read fa-bi-hudāhumu ‿qtadihi qul by Ibn ʿĀmir. Ibn Mujāhid refused to vocalize the hāʾ of iqtadih. The hāʾ is hāʾ al-sakt, which is suffixed to certain words during waqf mode and ought not carry any vowel. Ibn Mujāhid deemed the reading by Ibn ʿĀmir to be wrong. 4) (Q. 18:97) fa-mā ‿sṭāʿū was read fa-mā ‿sṭṭāʿū by Ḥamza. Ibn Mujāhid rejected this reading by Ḥamza and suggested that the latter wanted to read fa-mā ‿staṭāʿū but he assimilated the tāʾ with the ṭāʾ, which was not permissible because the sīn is unvocalized and so does the newly assimilated tāʾ/ṭā. Al-Fārisī considered this reading to be weak, and al-Zajjāj confidently stated that those who read fa-mā ‿sṭṭāʿū were wrong and grammatically incompetent. 5) (Q. 20:12) bi-l-wādi ‿l-muqaddasi. The yāʾ of al-wādī is usually dropped during both modes, waṣl and waqf. Al-Kisāʾī → Khalaf expressed a preference to pause on al-wādī while pronouncing a long yā. Ibn Mujāhid rejected this variant and said that one cannot pause on al-wādī while pronouncing a long yāʾ because it was written without one in the rasm of the muṣḥaf. 6) (Q. 96:7) an ra ʾāhu was read an ra ʾahu by Qunbul. Ibn Mujāhid rejected Qunbul’s reading.

The true miracle of Islam is it's infinite flexibility - we have gone from "word for word, letter for letter, dot for dot" to "multiple meanings are part of its eloquence" (but only when the "word for word, letter for letter, dot for dot" lie was publicised). I don't care how pious you are, or how forgiving you are for having been lied to about this since your earliest days in Qur'an school - if you can't accept the bar for preservation has lowered, you are lying to yourselves.

The most popular qira'at today is Hafs (a student, whose recital differs from his teacher Aasim - otherwise we wouldn't have a Hafs reading, we would just call it Aasim). The second most popular is Warsh (a student, whose recital differs from his teach Nafi - again, otherwise we wouldn't have a Warsh reading, we would just call it Nafi). You can't discard the transmitters without discarding at least the 2 most popular qira'at today.

@@MohammadQasim Based on your slang, I'm guessing we pretty much came through the same sort of early teachings and didn't have first hand access to the Arabic ourselves so had to rely on what we were being told (there were very few Arabic speakers in London in my day, almost entirely Asian) - almost everything we were told about the history of the Qur'an turns out was false. We had it drummed into our heads over and over again about how the oral tradition ensured preservation etc - now we can look at 20 transmitters and see that not a SINGLE transmitter qira'at matches the reader it was learned from. This great oral tradition, in reality, failed within a single generation 100% of the time with all these qira'at. Preservation is busted - Muslims are just clinging on by moving the goalposts.

The comments of the moderator at 20 minutes really do not pertain to the majesty of the preserved Quran. Allah allowed Quran to be revealed and promised that it would be kept intact. Alll these different readings are the opposite of being kept intact. So it stands to reason that the hadith of the prophet Muhammad is correct and that we should be referring to His preferred reading by Ibn Masood the companion. The question is which version is that reading? I say it's Hafs because it has lasted the longest ihas been the most proliferated. Allah has said in Quran that if something is good He allows it to remain on the Earth. We should not listen to the critics because who actually cares about rumours which usually proliferate among scholars, human beings after all.

Criticism of Hafs doesn't make sense. It's a red herring. Even if he lies about hadiths why would that be relevant? As I understand it, Hafs is not important for transmitting the quran. Thousands of others did that. He is only famous for his style of recitation. People follow his STYLE OF RECITATION They are not using him for authentication of the quran.

In Islamic we have the concept of chains going back to the prophet pbuh. These mutawatir chains will be multiple and have a known and full isnad chain. Even if hafs is not the first in the chain, we know the chains go back to the prophet.

The church is promoting for the Trinity, which you cannot find either the word or the concept of it in the bible.
