@@maxwe117 Vortex was also good because the blasters were just simply really fun to use. I especially loved the proton, which has one of the most enjoyable reloads I've ever seen in a blaster.

This is very balanced. And a valid discussion, bearing in mind how Ultra prices are plummeting with Christmas coming. I've seen Roughcuts new for more than the price of the Ultra 3. Ultra 2 at £11.99 now in the UK. That's as much as they charge for 20 Ultra darts. Ultra 1 is also being discounted. Your lighting is awesome by the way. Just sayin ^_^

I think he means dart blasters. And if he does, the quick 16 won’t be the highest capacity for long. Remember all of those D-Dart basters coming out. I think D-Dart also has a rival one coming out, so even if he doesn’t just mean just dart blasters, the Hades will be dethroned soon enough.

Your opinion is very well balanced and I can see now why you like it. However, the lengthiness and ergonomic failures just aren't worth it for me so I don't think I want one. I actually really like Ultra! The darts are kind of fun and feel like they fly like my old dart tag quick 16's darts, and I think that every blaster covers a super fun niche and that they all look and operate better than normal elite - I'd take ultra over unmodded any day, and the blasters just feel like they capture that same fun I had back as a kid in a more modern and almost "professional" visual and performance style.

I agree. Sadly I believe Hasbro patented the ammo design making it impossible to clone and sell.

@@dinostudios6579, it is really sad, and the really funny thing is that off brand ammo is what kept lines (such as mega) to be interesting. The waffle head mega darts were praised until they made the accustrike ammo, and dart zone revived elite for a bit with their super accurate waffle head darts. Now Ultra is in the hot water, and they have no other decision to keep the line alive unless they release the leaked pinpoint darts and lower the MSRP for the ammo.

It actually takes a long time to wear out ultra ammo. Still using some of the original from over a month ago. Also - 8 round non ultra internal mag system......that's the takedown or the vision. Though takedown really only "holds" 7. I'm trying not to buy an ultra 3 because I have these 8 round cap blasters already. I have ultra 5, and I tweaked it to be a winner. Ultra is a tweaking series - Fo' sho'...but due to takedown and vision capacity.....and the extra 12(6) mag clips w/OP-k26 - ATLAS --- I can't seem to make the jump. Also i'd rather store a little bit of ultra ammo for my '5' than have to buy more ammo to facilitate two redundant systems. Hope this has been helpful.

I feel like what you mentioned about the magazine is the biggest part of ultra’s potential that no one has talked about. If you have a dart made out of more rigid material, it’s going to work way better it a wide variety of magazine configurations. I think you would have much more consistent feeding and easier loading in drums and large mags etc. Ultra wasn’t a terrible idea, it was just poorly executed.

I'd take off that pumpgrip and make a pistol grip sticking out to the side, fill out the tomahawk shape with dart holders along the bottom to give a more boxy shape. And probably try to make my own ultra darts with foam backer rod and worker dart heads. That's what I'd do if someone gave me this blaster as a gift, I'm not spending money on ultra blasters until the ammo drops in price...a lot.

Pros: -its magazine works. -The prime is doable. -might meet the claims on the box. In other words, it meets the bare minimum. Wow. Compelling. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a Bert video. I think it would have worked better as one :p

See I originally thought that this blaster was bert material. But the more I played with it the more I liked it. Perhaps the pros do come across as "bare minimum", especially when compared to previous ultra blasters, but I don't think that's a backhanded compliment. Just my opinions...and I still won't recommend that you buy one.

Personally I would like to see a different kind of ultra 3 while still a being a pump action magazine fed blaster I would change the magazine location to be closer and put the pump at front, I would also add a stock attachment point and get a bunch of tacticool rails and they even could include the first ultra attachments ( basicly make it a tactical m1garand lol)

Does 100 fps ultra get better ranges than 100 fps elite? There's a lot of stock 3rd party blasters that get 100 fps and doesn't take proprietary expensive ammo.

All of the functions are solid. On paper, it's good. But Drac has never said anything more true than that this is an ergonomic nightmare... I have a very low opinion of Nerf, and I am still nothing short of appalled that this made it to market. Not a single part of it is practical when viewed as a part of a whole. It's amazing But I have a theory. They skipped the 3 because they recognized that it's an absolute nightmare ergonomically, and planned to fix it. But it performed well. The Ultra line was being trashed by basically everyone, very few prominent reviewers felt that the line was even mediocre. Largely because of the darts themselves. So, they had a blaster that was ergonomically horrible, but was proof that the Ultra darts were capable of performing modestly well. Proof that the Ultra darts could potentially match the performance of Elite darts. And despite that being a really low bar, they needed it enough to push out the blaster despite being an absolute travesty overall.

I do like the lines of the Nerf Ultra series of blasters, but then I should quantify that saying that I also like the lines of new elite 2.0 series. Not gonna rush out to buy any of them New, I'll just wait until they come to GoodWill/SalvationArmy/Craigslist. My left index finger still has a burning-tingle when I think back to my personal experience with the Ultra 3. I WILL CUT AND ROLL THAT DAM INTERNAL MAGAZINE OVER TO THE SIDE, OR MERGE A MAG-WELL FROM A DOUBLEDEALER(doubleduche), unless they decide to give Ultra the same power level in HvZ.

Defending nerf ultra is like my Mom defending her Hyundai...which spun a rod at 98k miles...by saying the things she likes about the car. When the core component is flawed (with the car, it's enigne, with ultra, it's the dart) the whole thing gets ruined. I can understand your point that the denser foam makes an internal mag more reliable...but then, internal mags are only a good for looks as they add no functionality to nerf guns.
