I know this video is old, but dude, you know how to make beginner guides. I get so tired of looking up beginner guides for games and they're just full of stupid obvious stuff, like they were reading off loading screen tips. Lol This is what beginner's guides need to be. Toes dipped, quality of life information that can save a new player dozens of hours and get them to a point quickly where they can pull their weight in a co-op match. This makes the game more fun for them, their teammates, and they won't quit the game in frustration after a week or two. This is how you grow the community.

It made sense to me. Wing diver has best mobility which makes it strongest for a new player since staying alive will be the main goal. Air raider is strongest with damage because of the call downs, but it is hard to effectively use them unless you really know what you are doing. Fencer is strongest overall and easiest as in all the damage comes from your guns. No complicated jet pack fuel or call downs or vehicles. However highest learning curve because with such bad mobility it takes serious skill to stay alive in the heat of battle

With my wife we play offline coop and have 96% the game and I still haven't learned to use Fencer *weep* . Finally I understand the dash-hop. THANK YOU. I have a (stupid) question, does the game scale up difficulty in *offline* coop? I guess I should go back and solo the game to prove my manhood? And a (final) comment, your play-style is too intelligent! Some of us just want to turn off our brain and brute force our way thru the game. So Thunder weapons for Wing Diver is not bad for that, and Limpet weapons for Air Raider to take down the Dropships. Don't you think?

I don't believe the game scales up offline. Yes you are right the thunder weapons are decent, I was mainly referring to online inferno, they tend to feel weak there. As far as dropships, I do take limpet for them occasionally but I typically like using a nix to take them down so I can take another air raid but the inferno limpet sniper is pretty strong. I was trying to make the video short so I didn't go into all the details like I do in my other weapon videos hehe thanks for the feedback! 😁

EDF 5 is great, but the one thing that's really annoying is the pre-charge mechanism nerf they did to some of the Wing Diver weapons, especially annoying for the rapier type short range weapons. I believe it makes gameplay far too annoying and intrusive for that class. I hope they change it eventually. It feels like a knee jerk reaction of the developers to do that to the wing diver. I don't think they should make playing the wing diver more annoying to "balance" the weapons out, I would have rather had them reduce the damage or something else. It's really annoying and ruins the feel of the class when you have pre-charge every shot, I had a wtf moment the first time I used it. Other than that, EDF 5 is pretty good, but I'm thinking EDF 4.1 is the best version to date.

First i want to give you a happy new year and i hope this year will give you many satisfactions, so as always you come up whit very good idea i would never imagine a video like this, and even if i don't need this beacuse even if i haven't buy EDF 5 beacuse i don't have the pc strong enough and my best friend and i we already know EDF 5 very well like you, i still found really intresting watching this video. I have two things that i don't totally agree whit you about the weapons choose and one thing about the farming mission, first i think that the thunder bow or the idunn but especially the thunder bow i think this time it's a good weapon i'll admit when i start using wing diver i didn't use it to much but when i start and become used to it, it conquered me, you need a bit of practice and gained used to hit one enemy at the time, second for air raider i almost totally agree about the rocket beacon the only reason that makes me disagree it's beacuse i think it's similar to the artilery or the cannon you need to used them at the right time and in the right place. Last for the farming mission i think that also mission 82 it's good when you use barga the first time, sure maybe the first time it will be hard in the ants fase but you can avoid this problem by doing this mission after you've done 86 for some time and obtain the right weapon to kill the ants fast, and also 82 gives you more weapon crates than 86. For me if you want weapon from 80 to 90 do mission 82 and if you want the final level the top of the category from 90 to 95 do mission 86. So this are my three things that i want to tell you let me know what you think and i'll be happy to hear your response thx and again happy new year.

I agree with the thunderbow view, I worded it a little too strong. Also I do enjoy the rocket beacon on certain missions. I was trying to make the video short so I wish I could have expanded on some things. The only reason I didn't include mission 82 is because I don't recommend it for beginners to farm as it can be very tough without certain weapons but I hope to being them to search my farm playlist where I mention 82, 100 and dlc of course. "Wing Diver has the easiest learning curve." Me who struggles with the new Wing Diver energy management from 4.1 As for Fencer, I'd add that the Heavy Cannons are better tgan the Hand Cannons in dps (except the M3 heavy cannon) and long range precision due to the flatter trajectory. Definitely cases where a Heavy Cannon is worth taking over a Hand Cannon. Hand Cannons are more general purpose and great weapons. Heavy Mortars are very good, especially since the early Dispersal Mortars are lacking. Arm Hounds are fantastic missiles, better than HAILs in most cases. They pair very well with Hand Cannons for mobbing and anti air. HAILs are too slow and really only good if the enemies are distracted. Arm Hounds let you fight with all the attention on you. Much more efficient. There is good reason that Fencer speedrunners use Arm Hounds and not HAILs.

I bought Earth Defense Force 5 played it for like 10 hours Put It Down didn't touch it for 2 years but now I'm playing it and I can't get enough of it I'm wondering whether I should slap myself for putting it down 2 years ago so far I'm loving it I have Earth Defense Force fever should I call a doctor. I put it down because I was having too much fun with Earth Defense Force 4.1 that was the same as a joke

why do I see everyone saying that the ranger is the weakest? I mostly use ranger and wing divers, never used air raiders, and tried fences occasionally, overall I find ranger does the most damage by a long shot, the thing is I have trouble finding overall reliable weapons on wing divers and fencers, wing diver weapons all seem to end up being very situational, and fencer weapons all feel like they are either close range/inaccurate or has a whole lot of limitations, i really do find the ranger weapons the best, with great range, excellent snipers compared to the wing divers, very good rocket(hornet series) and I find the rifles are the most reliable weapons in the game(btw I play offline alone, sometimes coop with a friend)

mostly because the movement. wing diver and fencer can get super fast+air movement while keep attacking and avoid the horde while air rider has better vehicle or far from the frontline in the first place

Ranger is a force to be reckoned with but on higher difficulties it's much harder for him to dodge attacks. It's not impossible and experience can make you very proficient at dodging even a horde's worth of attacks but it is harder than the other classes. His sniper rifles are some of the best and versatile long ranged weapons in the game. Which means that he often fills the role of long ranged DPS. So the reason why people say such things I'd say is that he's simply harder to play as on higher difficulties compared to other classes. Is he weaker? Debatable, each class has their specific strengths and weaknesses and whether those make or break the character simply depends on the person really. The equipment slot definitely helps with his movement though. I primarily main Air Raider but ranger is my secondary P.s Air raider definitely has higher DPS than the other classes but requires greater positioning and foresight. Good positioning in particular is not something you can always have though.

In terms of raw potential DPS wing divers lead the way by how much damage their short ranged weapons pump out. Rapiers have insane DPS output and dragoon lances offer massive amounts of burst damage. Obviously since WD has to pick her fights much more consciously and select her secondary weapon a lot more carefully to cover the ultra short range of the primary gun that across the whole mission a fencer or air raider would actually beat them out if she goes with that loadout. Personally I'm very fond of the thunder crossbow series. They're nothing too exciting for overall damage, but they cover a wide range of situations for fairly little energy investment per full charge.

Just found your channel the other day, great videos. I am still wondering what weapons I can use until I get something that can do good damage or have a good range. I've been playing Wing Diver and have just finished the normal level Champagne and have about 800 health. I feel like I get one shot playing most missions on hardest and inferno.

Yeah 800 health on hardest or inferno is very rough, I would suggest hard next until you get 1500 health at least

Air Raider only. Access the vehicle list and look for Powered Exoskeleton > Nix for the pew pew one or Special Weapon > Barga for the big yellow one that goes smashy smashy. For details look at 8:10. Remember that you need to acquire certain points to call them on mission. Means you cant just have it from the get go, you need to kill or let you team kill certain number of enemies to acquire those points then you can summon them. Have fun!

Yes. There's a couple of napalm weapons for ranger, for sure. I forget the lowest level that drops.

You can use dlc weapons offline on any mission right away and you can use them online on any difficulty after you reach 70% mission completion. If you are under 70% then you can only use them on dlc inferno mission difficulty and you can't use them on the main campaign inferno difficulty until 70%

The online only missions can not be played local coop unfortunately but there are only a small number of them maybe only 1 or 2 I can't remember When you play offline all progress is based off of player 1s progress and player 2 is a guest of player 1 from my experience You don't need to collect 100% of the weapons but if you wish to play on inferno you will need to farm for some of the important inferno weapons to help complete the tough missions. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything I mentioned 😁
