Q Bear nice interview. I learn about KMOJ 89.9 when i was a teen & it was only 10 watts. Where i lived Richfield MN. the only way i could here the station which this was strange i had to go to the basement with my boombox & move the attennia around til the station came in clear only at night time. Man i spent so much time on the weekends down there after my dad went to bed. I listen to the music & did record the songs that was playing that was new. I love there format back then & no mainstream commercial. When on the south side & or north side the radio station was clearer i enjoyed what they did. Banging jams all day which would help you get threw a work day & great slow jams starting at 1am. it was a great time to me. Most of my music education on the R&B, Funk, early Hip Hop & ballads came from KMOJ & The Roller Gardens. This was great times herd my 1st song of Prince was 94 East - Just another sucker & then later For You. When the MN. music seen blew up it was the best time to be from M.P.L.S. & so many great memories. What was wild a chunk of MN artists were roller skaters at the Roller Gardens & i met some & became friends + KMOJ radio personalities. Grew up Listing to Q Bear & others. Met him in the mid 80's & many time threw 2k. Hope he has many more yr.s at KMOJ he's a radio legend, a nice human being & friend.
