This is so timely, just filled my IM Nuvo EXT50 and started cycling using Dr. Tim's. I am a long time freshwater keeper, so testing parameters is not new to me. Saltwater is a whole new world. During my research, I was so glad I happened on your KZbin channel. I quickly subscribed and last week I signed up as a member. You explain setting up and maintaining a reef tank in a much easier to understand format. Please keep the videos coming. I haven't watched all of them but I am trying. In a few months when my tank is ready, I hope to try one of your coral auctions. Thanks much!

Thank you for your kind words. I also have a podcast. Saltwater Aquarium Radio.

Godspeed, brother! Hope all goes well. Sounds like you're well familiar with the allure of aquariums already, but Saltwater is a blast. Mad Hatter is great, but if you're still learning saltwater-specific care, I'd also suggest Tidal Gardens (great coral spotlight videos) and Bulk Reef Supply (tons of general info).

I'm liking the long form content. Keep it coming!

So I just noticed this video in my recommended feed. I also noticed after clicking the video that I was not subscribed. I know for a fact that I was subscribed at one point. I noticed this with another channel I had followed for a long time... That all of a sudden it was showing "Subscribe" instead of "Subscribed" Just something to be mindful of. Anyone else noticed this? Thanks for the info. Always enjoyed your content MHR.

Thank you for updating these! I’ve just started getting into dosing to try and help my sulking goni and help with the rest of my coral growth and watched these a week ago. Your new insights were very helpful! Would you recommend any trace element dosing for gonis also? I have a Biocube 32 with predominately LPS coral.

Seems like a good subject for the future.

I can't keep my mg and ca up, my alk always just sky rockets when I dose. my mg is usually around 1100-1200 and my ca is around 350. my alk always jumps around 9-11. so right now I'm only dosing mg. I do have kalkwasser in my ato res. but my alk right now sits around 9.6
@MadHattersReef7 ай бұрын
Interesting. What products are you using and when are you noticing the spikes?
@ohsnapzitzmeng7 ай бұрын
@MadHattersReef at first I was using all for reef and that only spiked my alk. I'm now using seachem magnesium and kalkwasser so I can control the numbers individually. for some reason I can't get my ca above 360 but my alk keeps spiking

@@MadHattersReef I think I found my culprit, fresh batches of reef crystal shows alks over 12

I have a question I use pro reef salt mix. In my 200 gallons tank I always had a high calcium of 500 but I had problems with alkalinity I dose all for reef how can I lower my calcium and raise my alkalinity? All for reef add a calcium?
@taylormwilson17 ай бұрын
Ditch the all for reef and dose something like seachem fusion where the calcium and alkalinity are separate, you can raise your alkalinity. I had similar issues with all for reef, do testing weekly until your parameters are what you'd like

Although Fusion isn’t just CAL and ALK, a simple 2 part is best for dialing your levels in.
