I bought my parents one of these things for Christmas 2021, and they LOVED it! I even bought them a yeti ice block to go in it. I saw these things at Dick's, and I thought, "well, they love to go camping, and they love to go up to our cabin in the Adirondacks, so maybe they will love to have this to take with them!" I had only ever seen them carrying a cooler in one hand, and with those types of coolers, all of the weight is on one side, so I thought that with the Yeti backpack cooler, the weight would be more evenly distributed.

Hi just wondering how long you think this would keep stuff cold? I bought a hopper 12 and my ice would melt after 1 day so my food was floating in water. It wasn’t in the sun, I was using it for a car trip. I really thought it would keep ice frozen longer.

Have you tried ice packs instead? Another tip is pre-cooling it before your long-use.

I’ve only used it for day trips so far, and it keeps stuff cold. I use ice packs, and typically put cold drinks in. I don’t think the soft Yetis keep ice as long as hard cooler models. The bigger the yeti the more ice, so it will last longer. Putting room temp drinks in will reduce time as well.

Yeti themselves call the soft callers, day coolers. You really should not expect more than 24 hours. Put already cold drinks from the fridge if possible, ice pack at the bottom so when ice hits bottom, the pack will freeze it. That will help. Also make sure you pack the cooler full. Dead air is bad for ice retention. The soft coolers are best for portability and day use. Anything more than that, you will probably be disappointed.
