I bought this receiver in December and eventually paired it with a Klipsch 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos home theater speaker system. (R26-FA towers, center, 2 rear). Well satisfied with the complete package so far. Running a Klipsch 12” Subwoofer as well. Thanks for the review!

It does not but there is a tricky workaround which involves the Zone three to an external amplifier, to your front L & R. You will have to use the app and your Phone for volume control which has to be enabled/unlocked in the AVR settings.

Thx for this honest review. Did you experience any issues , i.e. with HDMI or anything else?
@simplymusic487
@simplymusic487 10 ай бұрын
I did experience sound getting mute when shifting from a 5.1 source to PCM over HDMI ARC, a power off to on will fix it in most cases. Sometimes a hard reboot or changing from e-arc to arc is required to get audio back. It doesn’t happen often but maybe once in 2-3 days of listening. I did experience similar issues with arc with Marantz albeit a lot less.

Glad I found your Site - THANKS! I am loving my Sony SR-A95K OLED and was so excited when I read about this new AVR by Sony which would appear to REALLY bring things to life when used with S-Center I/O between the 2 - - - been waiting and waiting for prices of these AVRs to come down so I could afford one + hopefully bad/buggy reviews STOP.....I have finally ordered one and am praying I have NO problems with mine and can just enjoy the capabilities of this high tech AVR....I am running a 5.1.2 system......writing to see IF you or someone you know has experimented with this unit setup as the TV as The Center Channel alone and compared that to using the TV and Center + a separate Center Speaker too. I have a good ELAC Center I could get hooked up as separate Center IF you think I'd be better off using BOTH??? I really enjoy the Clarity of just the TV's speakers! Right now I am using my Center OUT of my Denon AVR and IN to connectors on back of the A95K - so I am actually getting the combo that way and find that it often kind of drags down the sound and I have to pump up the volume - and clarity is good but not as good. WHAT do you think or know.....please share....TKS & GOD Bless!

I would not recommend using tv as the center… I tried it with Sony soundbar last year and results were bad with my OLED as the TV speaker is simply no match for external speakers.

I don’t think it matches the Onkyo TX NR6100. The sound on both are similar. Maybe slightly more instrument separation with the Sony. The soundstage is about the same, however, no? Thoughts? For features, for around the same price, the 6100 offers more. So likely the most bang for buck with Onkyo.
@SimplyTechReviews
@SimplyTechReviews 3 ай бұрын
I tested LX305 and Onkyo 6050. The LX305 should pretty much be identical to 6100 and to be honest Sony sounds better. More punchy and best surround sound by far. Onkyo and Pioneer sound warm and nice but Sony sounds neutral and lively without getting bright and bass also is tighter.

@SimplyTechReviews
@SimplyTechReviews 9 ай бұрын
It’s a tough decision to make…. Denon is generally more expensive, has more power per channel, it has pre outs, support for 4 subwoofers. Sony on the other hand has a better 32 bit DAC(I think) and is sonically better. Personally I love the Sony sound but you are getting more for your money with Denon.

I personally find Sony to sound better and it’s surround audio makes you almost feel like you are sitting inside an audio sphere… you will lose out on some bass from your subwoofer. If you live in a region where you can return, I would definitely encourage you to give Sony a try.

I have tested this and the ES3000, the ES3000 is nearly double the weight and has a much bigger power supply, but in terms of pure audio quality, it’s just 10% better. So I still recommend getting AN1000 as long as your requirements are 7.2 or less. Why pay twice the money for marginal improvements that you wont see 90% of the times. Yes if money is not a problem, I recommend getting the ES3000 knowing fully well you are getting minimal gains when the peaks hit and high volumes, the ES3000 PSU would be able to keep up where as AN1000 would run out of juice.

hello Sr! nice video!!. i want to upgrade my receiver I have a denon avr s750h running a 5.2.2, and I am happy with it but I feel something is missing in the atmos area. perhaps because my listening position is against the back wall and my surrounds and atmos speakers both are against the wall and basically in the corners. so I have heard sony's spatial sound mapping brings the cinematic experience to another level. do you think sony will make a difference in my case? i am so tempted to buy this str an1000, I also looked at the ES series and I fell in love with the looks of those...so I might stretch my budget and buy the str az3000. both then again ... is it worth the upgrade? i have nothing to compare to... i just rely on what KZbinrs say. what would you do?

Sony absolutely rocks in surround sound. You may miss out on some bass on AN 1000 compared to AZ3000ES but cost savings on the AN1000 make it worth. I am currently rocking the AZ3000ES and it has its quirks, but when it comes to surround sound effects it’s still the 👑 King!

@@SimplyTechReviews thanks for replying i just subscribed to your channel because of it I bought the an1000 just to see how good the 360 spatial sound mapping is, I will get it in a week. if I feel the sound is better than my old denon I might save up and buy the az3000 just like you did. i have heard so many good things about this technology. i hope I hear a difference and it will not disappoint. and now that you have both, what would the better advantage of owning the az3000 be, besides the difference in the bass. is it louder? clearer? is the surround processing more precise? does the 360 spatial mapping in atmos mode sound better than an1000? thank you

@@SimplyTechReviews hello again, I got my Sony an1000 and you are right, when it comes to surround is amazing even the wife notice it, she said it is more around us and she made like a circle with her hands LOL, but when I activate the 360 spatial sound, I hear a constant hissing, It is more noticeable in loud volumes and in quiet scenes.... A kind of a white noise which sometimes is annoying. I play the same scene and turn 360 off and it is completely in silence. Did you have the same issue with yours? I read many people complain about it.
@SimplyTechReviews
@SimplyTechReviews 4 ай бұрын
@@cizcalodiablopanzon I didn't have any issues with white noise with AN1000, but there are some quality concerns with Sony AVRs that you can read on forums. Please get it replaced under warranty. The only thing I've noticed is that when I turn on Spatial 360, the bass is reduced compared to when it's off. I usually keep it off, but the 360 effects are still great even with 360SSM off. Also I am currently using AZ300ES not AN1000.

Question, I currently have 7.2 sr 5011 marantz and really want to upgrade my atmos experience. The 360 spacial audio on this amp sounds really good but I am wondering if getting a 9.2 system would be better. Is the 360 mapping reallv that qood ? I got priced out of marantz due to the price increases recently. I primarily game and the localization with the 360 mapping is something I really want. Except I can't imagine that this would be comparable to a 5.2.4 setup?

Sony AN 1000 Spatial Audio is very good. Having said that I just ordered Sony AZ3000ES which has a much bigger power supply. I will keep you posted how that one goes. It having tested so many receivers I must say each of them has some flaws and no one is perfect. The Sony is very good for value for money.
@kasaimampuya2074
@kasaimampuya2074 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for responding. Firstly I want to thank you for a very good review. I wanted to expand on your point about punchy bass. Your comments about the bass vs the dialog are very important. I pulled the trigger and got the amplifier. Spatial mapping is the real deal. I had atmos before with my Marantz sr5011 but I always felt like I couldn't make out the height channels. So on that front, it's amazing. What I lost though is bass below 40 hz. I have been trying to find a solution but it seems like the amplifier has a preset EQ that tapers off with the subbass. I tried putting the EQ on flat, disabling all the processing, and various other configurations, but I just can't get the bass to have authority on the low frequencies. I am using dual Klipsch R-115 sw subs, and coming from the Marantz, the subs now sound anemic. Even when using HDMI +10 db boost option for LFE, the thump gets louder but the bass just won't drop. This issue may not apply to most buyers and in the case where you're using a regular size sub (8 "to 10" inches). The intelligibility of dialog, along with localizing sounds in the soundscape are really strong points of this amplifier. In my case, I am now trying to see if I can live without the sub-bass. My subs can dig down to 15hz and this experience is very subdued, so this is a really tough decision. The issue with Sony is there does not seem to be a way to get rid of this cut-off. It may be a hardware issue but I suspect it's the programming. My question is I can't seem to find the LFE+Main equivalent for Sony, have you found this feature and did it make a difference? If not do you have any tips I could try out. In regard to the AZ3000ES and the power supply, yes please let me know if the same issue with bass persists. @@SimplyTechReviews
@SimplyTechReviews

I did mention about the gains on the subwoofer had to be turned up. I would suggest you do the room correction again. Turn the gain knob down when doing the room correction, then once correction has been done, Sony sets the sub gain to 0 db, then you can manually turn the gains back on. Also see if the EQ is set at Reference or Engineer, play with it. I have a 12 inch sub, and butkickker that goes to 20db, and I do get a good kick in the back. I was able to dial it in... I will keep you posted on ES3000, and you are correct dialog intelligibility and spatial audio, Marantz cant compete!@@kasaimampuya2074

I would like to buy this receiver. An enigma is bothering me! If a device (DVD) that has an hdmi output is connected to, for example, the Video 1 input via hdmi. Input settings ?????? Is it possible to connect an analog device to the analog input of the Video 1 receiver (video and audio), for example, a VCR? Does the receiver recognize both signals at the same input? I read the user manual where there is no explanation for such a connection. It is only stated. hdmi and input name change. My question is whether it is possible to simultaneously connect to the input with the same name Video 1 (hdm and analog) and whether the receiver automatically recognizes it? Unless! Is it possible to choose hdmi or analog through the menu setting? Does it allow this possibility when several devices are running and the other is not being used at the same time!? I hope you understand my question!
