Unfortunately not. I've seen them live before the pandemic. They played songs from the jester race and even Stand Ablaze from Subterranean. People didn't know what songs these were. The fans changed as much as in flames has changed. What remains is a memory

Anders has said he's proud about the albums he was a part of back then, and he still loves them, but he doesn't consider In Flames that band anymore, it evolved and some people are gonna love it and others are gonna hate it and they don't care as they make it for themselves.

These old recordings of them in the colony/clayman era are literally national treasures as far as I'm concerned. I only got to see them twice with the "classic" lineup of Jesper, Bjorn, Anders, Peter and Daniel. Both times were in the Come Clarity tour era in the USA, because I had only really discovered them around 2004-2005. They played a lot of old songs though(including my favorite live song, Colony), plus the regulars like Trigger, Cloud Connected, etc. Without a doubt, the best metal shows I've ever been to in terms of sound, atmosphere, and overall performance. They played every song perfectly clean, no mistakes, no sloppiness, their guitar tone was a massive fucking wall of sound that literally made your entire body vibrate and rumble. Every note was clear, Anders vocals were amazing(this was still before he started replacing a lot of his screams with cleans, he screamed 99.9% of the time when I saw them), I mean it was just a massive spectacle that you can only really appreciate if you've ever gone to one of their shows from that era, when Jesper was still in the band. Some of the best nights of my entire life and I credit this band with getting me through a lot of rough patches, and inspiring me to pick up a guitar. I don't listen to much of their newer stuff after A Sense of Purpose, but I still respect the hell out of them. No other band has this sound and sense of melody as these older albums. It's just wholly unique and instantly recognizable to me.

When Jesper left the band, it was clear that when Siren Charms came out that he was the heart of the In Flames sound. They still make pretty good music (Siren Charms excluded, I disliked it) but it's not quite the same anymore. Lucky you got to see them with a more regular line up.

For me their last 'fantastic' album is Sounds of a Playground Fading. Everything up untill that album was fantastic. Siren Charms is pretty decent too. I dont care too much about Battles and I the Mask. Foregone is about on par with Siren Charms for me.

This is a fuckin KILLER early show! I thought id see bjorn on drums!! Ive always loved In Flames so much!! They renewed my faith in metal when i 1st heard them around early 2000s and its hard to explain but they resolved some melody in my head that i had been trying to find for YEARS!! Amazing, i wish i could have seen this at this time. I got into In Flames when i was about 11 with Come Clarity in 2006 but nothing they've ever done comes close too Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony and Clayman. I wish they just started a new band instead tarnishing their old albums with their newer shit. Don't get me wrong, I actually don't mind Come Clarity, STYE, ASOP and RTR although they still don't come even close to their older output but anything from the 2010's has been pure shit and it hurts how bland they've become with Siren Charms, Sounds of a Playground and especially Battles.
