This spectacle, our collapse It's not a false alarm The ashes settle in I guess, we are the insane As we ignore the mirror's truth Should I join the feast? Should I acknowledge the leash? A future in captivity I'm not who I'm supposed to be Without even trying Let this light explode The bleeding, we deceive them Fuel the life that fades At the height of reason We shouldn't live by your laws Call the swarm Feed them another false hope Without even trying (killing the last scene) Let this night explode Without even trying Find the exit sign and disappear Without even trying (killing the last scene) Let this night explode Without even trying Find the exit sign and disappear -In Flames

@J. G. Yeah man, everything up until Colony was fantastic, and then the albums up to A Sense of Purpose weren't as good but still good. Everything since though has just been.....meh. They have sold out a bit, but if that's the route they want to take and are happy with it then good for them. I just won't be buying or listening to any of their new stuff unless they go back to their older style.

@ikiwyu8 жыл бұрын
Well it's not so much the meaning itself that intrigues me as the abstract art style. Judging by how In Flames' music has gradually become moreso themed around the human condition ever since clayman, I'd say the music video has something to do with the idea of leading an ordinary, substance-less existence and being controlled by some omniscient power. The scenes repeatedly showing the pinball map reinforce this idea as even in the past, In Flames have used the idea of a pinball map as a symbol of life's predictable structure (including on the song... well... pinball map).

I think this song has a strong anti-systemic vibe... (the dudes working fast, the master watching them) They also talk about "the spectacle, our collapse" (modern capitalism I guess?) "The leash" is a reference to the 8-hour work day?. "we shouldn't live by your laws" I think it's about corporations, states and ideologies that enslave the free humans. "call the swarm, feed them with another false hope" To me this lines refers to the illusion of choice that polititians give us (specially here in latin america) The chorus "Without even trying, Let this light explode" refers to the anger and frustration of not being able to be optimistic about "a future in captivity and not being who you supposed to be" The solution they give us is to "find the exit sign and disappear" don't know if they're talking about creating your own game with your own rules, or go to live in a forest or just commit suicide. I conclude this song is very nihilistic. But in the end it's an amazing song overall and I love it.
