I was lost speechless shocked & saddened after watching the series, I'm Maori and feel the Maemae/sadness deeply for the first nations people and Ae/yes The New Zealand wars is more widely accepted here apart of school curriculum subject Apart of Anzac day NZ Wars is acknowledged as He Raa Maumahara, in honour of those who made sacrifices in wars and conflicts in Aotearoa/New Zealand 2016 but this was to change to coincide with He Whakaputanga o Te Rangatiratanga o Niu Tireni/ Declaration of Independence of United Tribes of New Zealand a Constitutional document signed 28th October 1835 and called Te Putake o Te Riri ( The Cause of Anger) so on every 28th October is a comemeration however this day is not recognized as a public holiday like ANZAC day but we had the first Australian casaulty here in 1863. Thanks to Rachel Perkins and fellow researchers for bringing this important powerful kaupapa/history forward, The Australian Wars.

Thank you both for your work. Truly hoping for the best on the 14th, so we can further this education, healing and repair. Reading your book "Dispossession: Black Australians and White Invaders" right now, Henry. A few more to go on the list, as well as the series.

Just remember almost 1 or 2 thousand Australian volunteers mainly from South Victoria on promises of confiscated lands as payment from the NZ Governor and Business man associates in 1863. Most had joined number 1 & 2 Waikato Volunteer Companies, a small number joined the forest Rangers and likewise some small local militia's. One particular militia was called the Mauku rifles which had a few Australian's they were involved in a firefight at Titi Hill 1863 between Patumahoe & Waiuku making them the 1st Australians KIA on foreign shores. They are interred in a mass grave with their names inscribed on the centopath memorial in Drury at St Johns and lay besides British Imperial Regulars who fell also in skirmishes with Mana Whenua Maori.

I trust that Rachel Perkins' film about the Australian Wars will incude details of how the English settlers hunted the Aborigines with dogs (instead of foxes)

Kieth Windschuttle, has completely debunked Henry Reynold's work on this subject. But you do gooder, can't be wrong, lefties go right ahead.

Garry, the trouble with all those enamoured with conspiracy theories is in my experience having talked to such people, the knowledge of the subject they dispute is generally exhausted very quickly. Not counted always in minutes but with some effort on the part of the contrarian, maybe finished in the tens of seconds if you're lucky before they break into a string of logical fallacies then change the subject altogether to safer ground. Do you know how many people have debunked Keith Windschuttle? In their droves mate. That's how big the holes are in his analysis. He's a lonely fellow so I'm sure he's happy to know you're in there batting for him. He has however, been rewarded for his part in the cultural and history wars by political forces desperate for anyone, absolutely anybody to hold up the tiniest fabric of plausibility concerning the benign colonisation of this country no matter how absurd it is. Anyone else you can think of that has prostituted themselves to the extent Windschuttle has concerning first peoples? Is this another subject we can chalk up as being finished within tens of seconds?
