This message was heaven sent to so many❣️ When my beautiful daughter, Allie Mae passed away at age 15 from a brain tumor, I was the same way. Fast forward 30 plus years I have found my purpose as a grief facilitator . I work with children in an 8 wk program. I companion them through their grief and help them to find normalcy in their life after the loss of a loved one. You both did this today for someone who needed it 💕💝💕💝💕💝💕💝💕💝 You both are such a gift.

Brooke is an organizer of all things daily -- that's huge. An overall manager. A multi-tasker and helping everyone to keep the over-arching goals in focus, and also a great finder of marketing bargains and keeping things in mind to make life easier and better for everyone on the property! A LOT of planning any project going on, including the daily things like the food tasks and the project tasks and schooling, and relationships and thinking of the future and LOTS of problem solving! 🙂

Brooke-you make me smile!! What a privilege it is to look into your life from your perspective! I’m living vicariously through the Cog Hill videos! I’m 78 years young and was born and raised in Alaska in a very different lifestyle as the daughter of entrepreneurs who operated small businesses in interior Alaska. The experiences were priceless. Being very isolated 100 miles from the nearest town taught us survival skills and independence. I wouldn’t trade my life for anything and I appreciate how Mary Carl is learning skills most children never will. Blessings to all of you!

Thank you for doing this episode. I am going through now what Brook went through at 24. My mother passed away in 2014, then a good friend passed, then my oldest sister, Then Rita (The best friend anyone could be blessed to have) and now my brother has just passed. It's a lot in just a few years. Slowly I've lost myself. I never leave my home. No interest in anything really. Live in my housecoat. But this has made me realize I need to go talk to my doctor and maybe I can be me again. Thank you so much to you and Brooke. God Bless

I prayed for you before we ever did this interview! I knew there was someone who was going to watch this, that really needed to hear what Brooke had to say. And I’m praying for you personally now Diane that God will wrap HiS arms around you and help you step out of your housecoat & walk out of your home and lift you up out of this dark place ! One step at a time! One day at a time! ❤️

Wonderful interview! 💖 Some great stories we didn’t know about Brooke and family. I love the repeated advice, ”Don’t quit.”, “Don’t give up.”, “Do what you can where your at.” Goals and dreams take time and perseverance. The back patio was a great place for the interview. Those trees make a wonderful backdrop. 🌲 💚

Tucker is so cute! It is almost like he is trying to comfort you when you are relaying some very serious information about your life! So glad you realized that something was wrong and got help for it! When our systems are chemically unbalanced, those are the times that medications are useful! Mental illness has varying degrees from mild to severe. All are serious and need to be addressed in some degree. Men and women both have different pressures in life, and no one can know what each goes through! Women are the backbones of men (whether they know it or not )and the family. So glad you had this video because many people will be helped by it! God Bless!

Ladies this video was so awesome! Every woman needs a friend you can talk to about anything. Brooke your story is very informative and encouraging for thousands of women who are experiencing some of the same issues, and you gave them encourament and permission to take steps to take care of yourself! At 76 years, I am the woman I want to be because I gave myself permission 35 years ago to accept medication to correct some similar issues as you. Over the years I have encouraged friends and family members to take these steps to Be a better you!!

So, what I got from this wonderful video is that Brooke aka known as Mrs. Cog Hill, is an amazing, strong, bad-ass survivalist of a woman who is not just a wife, mother, teacher & farmer to those she loves both human and animal, but also a mentor and teacher to all of us who love her and appreciate her so very, very much 😇🥰😇 TYVM for doing this episode and it is a brilliant idea that I very much look forward to 🥰😇🥰😇🥰😇🥰😇

At age 75 I dreamed of having chickens. Watching KZbin I learned to build my own chicken house and run. Since then I have build 4 more. My husband showed me how to use the power tools but I did the work. I also built a chicken tractor. This past month with the help of my husband I enlarged the run. This week we are putting gutters on the large shed near the new chicken run. I am making a chicken water with the catchment system. During the pandemic we built out a ProMaster van into our camper. Two years ago I learned to machine quilt. There is nothing that we can not accomplish if we are willing to put in the time to research and take your time. Both my husband and I have medical challenges but we keep going. If you stop they through dirt on you. Bless you Brook you got it all going.

As a caretaker for my mom since 2005 who recently went through chemo and radiation treatment last year for Stage 4 lung cancer and thankfully by the God's grace made it out the other side in remission and given the all clear and she just turned 81 this past July and I hope to be blessed with many more years with her as her care provider. She gave me life and cared for me and my 2 brothers and it's pretty much been mom and I as I am the only girl she had. This video warmed my heart, and opened my mind and gave me hope and all sorts of things. I'm married 30 years and my husband takes meds for depression also. It's what it is. He was fine until taking meds for type II diabetes, hypertension, high triglycerides and high cholesterol. Doctors don't know things they know today and some never will open their eyes to such truths. I've been lucky to fight back against my own demons and depression and I am winning that fight without the use of meds but thats not everyone's story unfortunately but to see someone functioning even in the moments these videos last is awesome. Having less worries helps but then that's not been the last few years of my life and Lord knows that. I just keep on keeping on because I am a woman and I believe we are created to hold down the fort, work hard, feed and take care of our loved ones and with me even my friends. I love hard and work hard and basically everything I love to do in my life has been and is hard. I've never had kids in the almost 31 of marriage, but I've chose to be the caregiver and provider of dogs, cats, a bunny and a few other critter types along the years. I love the animals, I've trusted them more than anyone else in my life and that is what makes me happy so I can see why it is that it makes Brooke so happy also. I would also love my Big O if I had one. I got a ride on mower for now and its my Big Yellow LOL Thanks Tracy for doing this type of video. I think its awesome like I think you are. ❤🌻🐓🐐

Now I have a lot of catching up to do. When Jason started talking about "garden rooms", it really peaked my curiosity. Acknowledging the real life struggles women have as well as the many hats women wear was a genius segway into what gets done everyday behind the scenes that often does not get seen such as chores on a farm that have to get done regardless of time, weather or how you feel. The animals and family always need to eat. You brought out Brooke’s passion 😍 as well as the rest of the Smith family’s. I always love listening to Brooke talk and explain her thought process, cuz it’s much like my own. Everyone could see the love and pride she has for her family. This is a great idea for a series. Good job,Traci! From Ca🏖take care.

I owned a salon for 38 years. I’m 67 now and semi retired. I owned my salon since I was 19 years old! Doing hair is my passion! And I’m good at it! I sold it 11 years ago when my first granddaughter was born. Time is to short! That’s why I sold it, to spend time with my grandkids! But doing hair is my passion! I followed my dreams!

Great video helping with someone else’s garden and animals is a great way to see if it’s for you. A lot of people think it’s great idea then realize how much work it is how much feed cost have gone up. Helping someone lets you get knowledge without spending a bunch of money. Taking care of a farm is not for a lazy person and there is always something needs done.

After my dad died I got out of the habit of saying my nightly prayers. I also got 3 or four speeding tickets through low speed zones, 20 or 30 mph areas, in the first 9 months. Totally unlike me. I thought I handled it well, he died after a 16 month battle with cancer. It was a relief that he was no longer in pain and suffering. But after a few years, I came to the realization that maybe I wasn't handling it as well as I thought. I am still working through the grief process and it's been 19 years. He was 69 when he passed. He would have been 88 this year.

I related to Brooke’s story SOOOO much. I lost my mom and dad both very young and being a caregiver what felt like my entire childhood and young adult life was my identity. I basically had an identity crisis and “mid life crisis.” Went to therapy and counseling and finally was put on anxiety medicine. I’m still on it and have no regrets. It keeps my mind from going to dark places and for that I’m thankful. I do think our society has this negative stigma attached to mental health but it’s so important. I’m so glad Brooke shared that ♥️ hopefully anyone else watching felt peace knowing it’s definitely okay to get help and take care of yourself. Love this series Tracy ♥️♥️♥️
