Gonna go ahead and say it. Best cover of this song , and maybe best acoustic cover of any rock song... I've ever heard. Your talent is astounding. Claudio would be proud man. Clearly he has inspired you. If you're not a star by the time you read this, it won't be long after that you will be. But if I could make one suggestion. On the last verse, when you are saying "man your own jackhammer". Let it rip man. I was literally feeling this performance so much I was singing with you but also under you BC I wanted to hear you above me. I was excited for that part bc I thought you were going to whale it out right there. And I believe that is in you somewhere. If you let it out man. I'm telling you, it would be special. Bc you my friend are special.
@fosteradjustments9 жыл бұрын
+jesse fye This is a VERY hard song to sing, and he nailed it for 7 minutes. Keep in mind that this was (probably) not the first take. I also guarantee you he was trying to belt out that "MAN YOUR OWN JACKHAMMER!", you could see/hear it. There's a point where the vocal chords just say "Fuck you man, I'm out for a while." I agree with you that it's a fucking phenomenal cover though. Nobody else can do Coheed and Cambria right, especially guitar+vocals. Mad props to SeanUNT.
@SeanUNT9 жыл бұрын
+Brian Foster Yeah man, this was like my 3rd or 4th run and it was 2AM at this point, Lol. I wanted to get one solid take and not have to splice together takes, so I had to try a couple of times, because you know this song is nuts, especially solo acoustic. I think he probably wanted me to get a little screamo like Travis does there, and my voice just doesn't do that, that's why I sing all the screaming/shouting parts pretty pure, except a little bit of rasp on 'jack' I guess. That's about the extent of my rock scream, haha.

Haha, thanks man! This song and working out this acoustic arrangement did take me a very long time. I fiddled with it on and off for a couple of months, having trouble figuring out how to "acoustify" it. It was definitely one of the trickiest ones I've done. And then singing over the more intricate riffs took a LOT of super slow practice, sometimes having to line up specific words with notes on the guitar, and then gradually working it up to speed. It was a long process, but very worth it! Glad you enjoyed!

I've got to be in the top 10 of biggest Coheed fans in the world (Decals on my Jeep, snowboard...etc and have the lyrics of this chorus tattooed on my arm as well). I listened to this song before every exam I ever had in college and grad school. I first heard them in 2001 at Warped Tour and they changed my life forever. So being able to experience what you did to this masterpiece of a song was pure endorphinous joy. After quickly realizing that this was a legit cover I quickly thought to myself "He's good but I wonder if his vocals will be able to handle the last "Man your own jackhammer" (T-7:38) without modifying it. Finally 7 minutes later it came and you NAILED IT! Like others have stated these are Claudio worthy vocals. This is almost as if the ghost of Claudio took control of your body and started using it to sing. I watched this again several times again this morning when I woke up. This is the greatest tribute ever done to this song in the history of the world. I've seen others which although are decent for open mic night, do not capture the darkness nor the tone of the song. Again Great job and thank you for adding this to the world! You managed to stretch out what used to be 8:12 minutes of enjoyment into a longer 8:20 minutes of enjoyment. Later Tattoo twin! (I got mine on the same spot after being inspired by the lead singer of I The Mighty at one of their shows in Denver.) ***Claudio if you see this invite this guy to do a duo with you on stage at one of your shows next time you're in town!!!!!***

@@SeanUNT Do you have any general tips about singing and playing simultaneously, from the perspective of someone who has played a lot of guitar, but not done much singing?
@SeanUNT Жыл бұрын
@@C4103 Yeah! Start with easy guitar songs that only have chords (like Blood Red Summer, or maybe just a strummer from an easier band, haha). Then start REALLY slow. Use a metronome if that helps. Or use KZbin and put the song on half or 75% speed. Get the song to where you know the vocals and guitar separately 100% in your sleep, and then mess around with shifting your focus, and see whether focusing on your voice or guitar in any given part is more helpful. If you're still having trouble lining them up, you might need to break it down to literally assigning a note/word to a fret (this is more applicable when it's an actual rhythmic riff or especially a single-note line riff on the guitar). Figure out what word/note goes on top of (or in between) what fretted guitar note/chord, and then work through it lining those up and coordinating them. Just going for it over and over again won't work, strip it down and go slow and piece it together like a puzzle. Eventually after awhile, you will develop some independence where you may be able to run a riff a bunch of times til it's muscle memory, and then start singing over it, but even I at this point have to break down harder Coheed songs like how I described above sometimes. Good luck, let me know if you have any more questions!

@@romainrahni8682 It is the electric parts, so the chords will all be power chords (which I expand out to full open acoustic chords usually and try to get as many open string ringing as possible for a full sound), but it will have all the more intricate melody notes laid out like in the middle parts, and I basjcly play most of those lines as they were played, like in the "Will....will the children really understand part". And I based the way I play the verse riff off of the actual electric part, and just made some of the chords fuller, added some quick muted doublestrums in between chords for rhythmic fun, etc. And you'll see the timing laid out for all the arpeggios/more melodic lead gtr style parts I included. It's a super helpful starting off point for sure, and then you can compare how I modified it, I think it would help for sure. Plus they're just a blast to learn stuff out of them!
