As some may be curious yes oil also passes though when filling tires and dusting off the work bench. This is why for most home do-it-yourselfer's just placing a couple of drops of oil in the air tool before every use will be less hassle. What's more important is installing a moisture trap filter. This removes moisture which prevents air tool internal rust and is especially important for spraying paint. Also draining moisture buildup from your air compressor tank periodically will increase longevity by avoiding rust through and tank ruptures.

Good point you make, I purchased a 2 outlet swivel valve for my compressor so I can run one hose with a blow off tool and another hose for my air guns etc so I will put the oiler after the swivel .

I am in the process of installing a whole shop air pipe system. I will need to get a bunch of these so each place i might plug in an air tool has it. I'm terrible at remembering to oil. Unfortunately i can't just put 1 for the whole system because i need dry lines for the cnc plasma cutter and for paint/ airbrush.

I like what you did, but have a question. If you use your compressor with a paint gun attachment, will the oil affect the paint?

Yep. It would ruin the paint. Permanent oilers like the one in this video are for mechanics. For general use, an inline oiler attached to the tool itself is the best alternative. That way the air hoses stay oil free and you can blow dust or spray paint.

You don't want an oiler while spraying paint (but you want a water filter)!... I have separate water filter and oiler connected to my wall rather than directly to my compressor... My water filter is connected directly to my compressor (you always need a water filter)... My water filter has 2 outlets... One outlet is connected to the oiler while the other outlet has a quick coupler... The oiler also has a quick coupler... Best of both worlds... When I don't need the oiler, I connect my air hose directly to the water filter (therefore I bypass the oiler)... When I need the oiler, I connect my air hose to the quick coupler on the oiler... Then the air flows through the water filter first and then through the oiler... I also have separate hoses since the hose connected to the oiler becomes contaminated with oil...

@@frederikmare9002 I'm putting together something similar except I'm mounting the filters to a portable mount with both filter setups. Hoses are color-coded at the quick disconnect to avoid making an unfortunate mistake. Using this with a six-pound Poter Cable pot compressor. Can also hang it on the wall in the shop for a bigger setup.

I’ve recently bought an in-line oiler but yet to fit due to having a clear out to actually get space to work in my garage. How will this work of fitting and air blower? Won’t it spray oil onto whatever you’re clearing dust etc from? There’s probably a simple solution. I think I have two outlets on my compressor. It’s buried somewhere! If it has then I’ll use the spare port for a blower. Without a spare port, what would be your thought on it spraying oil out on air blower?

I guess this setup is good only if your compressor is designated to be used with air tools. If you want to attach a paint gun then you don't want oil passing to your paint? I would add air filter/water condenser after the pressure regulator and then split the line to oiler (air tool) and free outlet (paint gun). Is my logic correct?

Awesome thanks for making this video but I didn't find the one thing I'm looking for lol The oiler I got has an adjustment on it minus or plus how much oil should I be using considering we just put a couple drops in the tool when we use it this is going to be constantly putting oil how do I have any clue of how to adjust it My adjustment is just plus or minus

Does oil oil go into your tires when filling? When blowing off your workbench will there be an oily residue after?
