The cast members used to come up with skits and sometimes work together on ideas. The ultimate goal they had to make Keenan Ivory Wayans laugh to make the cut. Naturally he added his magic to the skits, but eventually FOX kept interfering with the show and tried take away his creative control, so he left and the ratings went with him.

I've been binge watching your reactions to In Living Color and I'm cracking up laughing with you all. This show brings back memories. You both need to watch the skits Mr. and Mrs. Brooks (Kim Wayans and David Allen Grier). I have now subscribed...keep up the good work

Fun fact: This was the final season of Living Color. And like with a lot of TV shows, it was not as good as good as the previous seasons. The biggest reason is because Keenen Ivory Wayans and all the other Wayans and Kelly Cofield left the show due to dispute with FOX and syndication. Still had some funny episodes though.

I noticed the dip in quality after the Wayans and Kelly left and Kelly was so under-rated I LOVED her brand of humor.Plus,I thought she was very-CUTE-too.

@@dancingwheels8494 Yes,I agree. Too bad we can't get comedy shows like this now,but,some people are too sensitive for this brand of humor.But,Keenon had his go-around with the censors of that time period too. I guess some things don't change.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but in this (which I believe was the last) season. ALL of the Wayans were absent. Keenen got into a dispute with the FOX network over creative control. I believe the last straw was that the network began airing the show twice a week without Keenan's approval. When that happened Keenan abandoned his own show. Kim, Shawn and Marlon soon followed. Damon had left about a season earlier to focus on doing movies. He would pop-up as a "Special Guest Star" when he returned to do popular skits such as: Men on Film, Homey D. Clown or Anton "the bum" Jackson. Kelly Coffield and Steve Park (who married each other later down the road), left as well. As you can see, some of the original cast stuck around, but the show wasn't the same. It is a shame that Fox's meddling caused an awesome show to go off of the air. It isn't right that very funny shows such as this and MAD TV aren't around, but boring, bland SNL keeps on going. I don't think that show has been funny since Eddie Murphy was part of the cast.

Also, I think I related more to Jim Carrey and David Alan Grier than any other cast members. They are so incredibly versatile, and I think David really was the unsung hero of the cast! One more fun fact: as a kid when the show started syndicating episodes on the FX channel, Jim Carrey‘s address was posted one night allowing people to write to him. So I wrote a long letter to him about how much of a fan I was of his movies and in living color, and he sent me his autograph saying “Spank you very much!

I always LOVED Grier's style of humor and you're correct,David was very versatile and witty.I bought the book on the behind the scenes of ILC from amazon and it's an interesting read,plan to re-read it again after watching these skits.And COOL story about Jim Carrey.
