In Memoriam, [Ring out, wild bells] - A poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
About the poem - "Ring Out, Wild Bells" forms part of "In Memoriam", Tennyson's elegy to his sister's fiance, Arthur Henry Hallam, who died at the age of twenty-two. This poem was published in the year 1850, when Lord Tennyson was appointed Poet Laureate. Every year in Sweden this poem is recited at the national New Year's Eve celebrations.
About the poet - Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809 -- 1892) was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom during much of Queen Victoria's reign. Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. Tennyson excelled at penning short lyrics. He is one of the most quoted poets in the English language.
