In Memoriam: Thakurpersad (Th.) Bhikharie

In Memoriam:
THAKURPERSAD BHIKHARIE
February 22, 1935 - November 26, 2019
On November 26, Mr. Thakurpersad (Th.) Bhikharie left this earthly life.
He was a teacher by profession.
He has also been involved in many music groups: AWR where his musical career started, then Indian Orchestra (with Herman Dijo, Sonny Indallal, Sukhai and others) and then Sohanie Orchestra, where Hafieskhan Wagidhosain was band leader at the time, later Hafieskhan and Thakurpersad jointly led this orchestra.
With Sohanie Orchestra, Th. composed his first own songs.
After leaving Sohanie, he continued to write and arrange his own compositions, with his son Ronny Bhikharie (currently known from Avishkar Orchestra, Holland) by his side.
His last public performance was on 11-11-2011 during the Jubilee Yaadgaar Concert, organized by Ra-Ni Entertainment. It was a great honor for the Yaadgaar Orchestra to share the stage at least once with this legend.
