In all honesty, the relationship between Morocco, Spain and Portugal is funny and a complicated historical relationship. Morocco, Spain and Portugal were under Moroccan rule for 8 centuries, and Portugal even became a republic due to the Battle of the Three Kings. There were always wars between us... and when Morocco weakened, we were colonized by them, but for intermittent and short periods... so... When you go to southern Spain and Portugal, the extent of the great Moorish influence there, especially the Moroccan architecture...

The mosque that you saw, Mr. Myer, is a very small example of Moroccan architecture, not Spanish. There is architecture in Spain that is comparable to the architecture in Morocco because Spain was subject to Islamic rule for 800 years. Therefore, when you go to Seville, Granada, or Cordoba in Spain, you will find Islamic architecture, especially Moroccan, such as the Al-Haralda Mosque, which was transformed into a church after the end of Andalusian Islamic rule. The city of Chefchaouen is one of the destinations to which Muslims took refuge when they were expelled from Andalusia, or what is known as Spain in the current era. Not only Chefchaouen, but the city of Tetouan is also considered the place of residence of Andalusians, as well as Tangier, Rabat, and Salé in particular. The architecture that you will see is Moroccan Islamic, given that Morocco ruled Andalusia. In the last centuries before the fall of Andalusia to the Spanish

Moroccan cuisine is known for combining sweet and savoury in the same dish. That’s what makes Moroccan cuisine different ☺️ 😋😋😋 other dishes to try are Bastilla one of Morocco’s best known signature dishes. It’s essentially a chicken pie but really sweet and really savoury ☺️ It’s made with a pastry similar to filo but uses so many flavours and ingredients one wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in a chicken pie. Then there’s the Merouzia tajine and meat and prunes tajine and Chicken with deghmira tajine and the list goes on and on and on. Basically when in Morocco any day is a tajine day with limitless combinations. Enjoy your stay 😉

Chicken tajine with preserved lemons and some olives toped up with french fries is actually a 100% Moroccan authentic tagine,in Morocco we make french fries fresh( the Moroccan way).
