Love your sweater! I am Norwegian, and we call those single contrasted stitches "lus" which translates to "lice". Therefore, "loppe" most logically for me, and probably all Norwegians, refers to "flea" as in "flea market". We say loppemarked in Norwegian. 😊

Thank you, friend! And you know, I DO love color. It’s more or less that I just don’t wear a lot of it. But I figure, why the Hell not. My home is really very colorful. Why shouldn’t my clothing be occasionally? ☺️☺️

Nope, not sick of it yet! In fact, I made a happy face when I saw this video in my subs this morning, and knew I’d be watching it while baby has her midday sleep 😊. Vicarious colour-therapy ❤.

lol. Thanks! My littlest gets homesick from time to time and just can’t help himself. Sometimes I’m already at school helping PTA or in the classroom and I’ll get the call and when I pop down there to see him, I can tell that he just needed some momma love. I can’t complain. ☺️

The contrast stitches are called lice when the sweater is knit bottom up (which was more common in traditional Norwegian knitting) but when you knit a sweater top down the “lice stitch” changes from being a V to a upside down V and then they are called fleas instead😅 just your typical Norwegian logic😅 and then as mentioned in comments above, I also believe that Pickles is using a pun with the connection between the fleas in the sweater and flea markets🥰

It’s funny that you mentioned adding more colors sometimes makes a multicolored project look better. In design I was always taught you want everything in threes or odd numbers, so threes and fives somehow always look more aesthetically pleasing than twos and fours.
@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS5 ай бұрын
Yes! Totally. My mom taught me this when I was very little and she’d be decorated homes for selling. Odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye. As for this sweater, there are six colors but one is much more neutral and sort of anchors the others. But I do firmly believe in the power of odd numbers. ☺️

Loving the flea sweater. Personally, I'm in my stripes era, and I'm finishing my Andrea Mowry Stripes! sweater currently. This project is brimming with joyfully mismatched stripes, and I couldn't love it more. Incidentally, this pattern also is an incredibly helpful reference for incorporating short rows in to a striped pattern.

Yep. Definitely super obsessed/invested in this flea sweater! I feel that the "color era" is a thing because I am so drawn to knitting an avocado green sweater for myself and a bubblegum pink sweater for my baby girl. I was being a "sad beige mom" that was only wearing/buying neutrals up until a few months ago! LOVING all the color!!!! (I do still love neutrals but I'm loving the excitement color is bringing me right now)

Since you know that the fit is okay so far, you may want to weave in ends every so often, so it doesn't become the job you dread. You may be glad you did when you get to the end. The colors look great on you. I don't know of anyone who's made it an old age who said, "I wish I had worn more grey and less color." We lived with black and white movies and TV originally, so color is great!
@Lavran5 ай бұрын
For weaving the ends - I believe I've seen before that you can braid the ends instead of individually sewing them in. But security of that is highly dependent on the type of fiber. I think it's worth looking into with this amount of ends 🙂

What about the Travel Mode by Susanne Sommer? Or the Easy Puzzle Blanket by Purl Soho? I feel like they would both be right up your alley and would look amazing with that color palette. The Good Morning blanket by Purl Soho could also be a great option. I'm thinking about using my advent kit to make that this Christmas season.

I don't know if someone has already said this, but in Norway there was an old saying "den som har mange lus som liten, vil bli rik når han blir stor" which translates to something like the one who has many lies as little will become rich when he grows up.

Question- how do you change colours each round without making a big like gap at the seam, I love knitting stripes in the round but it always makes this gap each new row on the back if knitting top down and in the round ?
@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS5 ай бұрын
This is a GREAT question and honestly, I may not have the best advice, but what I do is hold the old color and the new color together for the first stitch of the next round. This closes the gap and it's really not very noticeable.
