Sobrini he has a visual guy who does that , but their are now plenty of ways u can do it on your own while playing for example the traktor users can link traktor to ableton with ableton link and link resolume also to ableton to have everything synced up

Check out Christian Jackson's channel he vlogs as well, is a DJ but is very much involved in visual preparation of big shows so you might find something there but it'd be interesting to hear Luke's take on this side of the business indeed !

I love these live mixes! With todays technology everything can be perfect...audio production, making a mix on a computer, hearing little "mistakes" and watching the DJ correct them gives listening to live mixing a different feel than a computer ever could. I think this is also the same reason many don't like the sync button, because it takes away that aspect

Very well done mix. Very good choice of tracks. This is true wizardry! :-) I also like doing megamixes with fast changes of tracks. My rig is a NI S4 with Traktor on iPad for simple gigs or Traktor Pro on notebook for Club gigs. But from a wizard as you i have learned very much new ideas for my own work. I am also sometimes working with loops when making transitions. Loops can be a live saver. But the real live saver is the Dub Echo. A very nice learning effect have been your thoughts, you documented during the mix. And.... "Hitting the stop button on the wrong Player!".... I am glad, that this does not happen only to me.... :-) If someone says this would never happen to him.... Then you can be sure, that he never made a live mix. Keep up the good work!

Great mix. That live John Legend mash up was dope. Most people without this video would assume it was a bootleg remix but you did it live on the spot. It's great when live improvisation works out. You also proved it doesn't always go correctly but that is the beauty of real live DJing. How can you learn rights and wrongs if you don't actually try it out live on the spot? Much love Luke. This is proper djing... The thing that gets me annoyed is that you have to explain that this is the normal way to dj. Pre mixed sets are taking over. Save us from the darkside Master Luke!

In most clubs DJs are mixing live. I think, premixed sets are very rare. Maybe cheap Party DJs are using premixed sets. The Ivy-League cant allow being trapped with premixed sets. Ist a question of loosing reputation. People are very sensitive to this... :-)

I think It depends on if the dj is being filmed or recorded. More famous djs are worried about making a mistake, instead of showing their skill in correcting the mistake. Lot's of festival sets are prerecorded. I don't want young djs thinking this is the "way to do things". Learn the skill, put in the work and dj live.

djoliashman in my opinion the problem is the festival culture. Just one hour with the DJ as a semiGOD. It is more a rock concert thing than a good way to enjoy electronic music. Good spectacle, not the best if you love the music and dance. No problem with festivals, but they are just a very different thing. I wont be super pissed if they prerecord parts of a show in a festival, however I don't consider that they should do that in a club or a parte where they will play for several hours.

I agree the festival dj sets are weird but in the uk club nights are pretty much dead, go back 15 years and you could listen to a famous dj every weekend in your local club but now festivals are the place you get to see your favourite dj. That is why I have respect for Luke as he plays a club night most weekends. In a club it is all about dancing!
