Այս ցաւոտ հարցի շուրջ անկեղծ զրոյց ունեցանք Հայաստան հաստատուած, սփիւռքին լաւածանօթ Անահիտ Արամունի Քէշիշեանի հետ։ UCLA-ի մէջ տարիներով հայերէն դասաւանդած, հարիւրաւոր սփիւռքահայ երիտասարդներու հայերէնին եւ հայ մշակոյթին ծանօթացնող Անահիտ անընդունելի կը գտնէ սփիւռքին հանդէպ մակերեսային ուշադրութիւն ու միջոցներ յատկացնելու պետական վարքագիծը։

Very timely discussion about what the Diaspora can and should do to contribute to Armenia's progress on all fronts. Of course, this is by no means a new concept and numerous initiaitves have already bwen implemented with significant successes. But it is also true that what has been can be multiplied many fold if greater numbers of diasporans get engaged and involved. How do we realize our potential, this is the big question. Maybe a large-scale discussion needs to take place in the diaspora to get the ball rolling?

18:00 'because the old institutions are no longer relevant' ... true, but not because of mismanagement or misaligned ideology, or boyish attitude, or pride, etc. Simply because the traditional diaspora is in its 4th generation and the youth has less and less of an identification with its Armenian heritage and past. Just the natural course of things. The fact that the guest is dumping the responsibility on traditional diasporan institutions is indicative of her probable personal differences with said groups/institutions. The Artsakh struggle for freedom and justice was a unifying goal, a positive one as opposed to the genocide. Now that factor is also gone. I wish Apo and the guest all the best with their 'let's all energetically work together' approach but they should remember that very large swaths of the Armenian world have simply disconnected from Armenia/Armenians after the 2020 war. Putting Artsakh, the previous regime, the traditional diaspora, symbols of the past, etc, all behind in order to 'move forward energetically' sounds like a used car salesman's low-grade pitch! Let me make a humble suggestion based on the key lesson of the 2020 defeat: Don't hate each other! Don't hate the traditional diasporan groups, the former presidents, the artsakhtsis, the opposition, etc. Disagree but don't hate. Same goes to all sides of course. P.S. Also, read/listen to serious journalists: Ara Tadevosyan, Edik Baghdasaryan, Aram Abrahamyan, etc.

Just the natural course of things", I say this in my talk as well. I don't dump the situation on traditional institutions, but I say that they should recognize the immense change of recent decades and so does the government of Armenia, and together we should rush to find a solution to the situation. Even the title of this "discussion" is misleading. What "boundless diasporan possibilities" are we talking about?? The guest and the "medicore " unengaged/unquestioning interviewer, take this as a given and proceed from this shaky/nebulous assumption and then prattle on. Very uncritical 30 minutes of talking points.

Anahit should become the diaspora minister, and she is right; that ministry must have a tremendous budget and many programs to invite/connect the Armenian youth from the diaspora to Armenia. Otherwise, the stupid local Bolsheviks did everything in their power to separate the diaspora from Armenia because if the diaspora were involved in the lives of the Armenian people in Armenia then the Russian communists and their ideological brother oligarchs had to be kicked out of Armenia, and Armenia would join EU. Russians (and Armenian communists and previous thug regimes together) did everything in their power to separate us! Time is short, and they need to move fast; otherwise, our kids in America already see Armenia as a distant ancestral land from history books.
