beautiful, this was played on remembrance day when I was on parade, with the army cadet force. Andy cant also works with mike as a vet mike is my step dad, he is amazing

As far as I know this was composed by Andy Cant. I first heard it played at a funeral in St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall by Andy a few years before this broadcast. It is a very moving piece especially when played in the Cathedral.

I was fortunate to attend the WW100 service on 11/11/18 in Glasgow cathedral. Andy Cant played this. It was so beautiful reverberating around the cathedral. It actually brought tears to my eyes!

Him doing at the cathedral was almost better in the rehearsals as it didn't matter as much about the crowd but yet the emotions of the music, most of the people were in tears him included. It was amazingly beautiful(Member of the youth choir)

Es gibt wenige Stücke die sich Orgel und Dudelsack teilen können ohne dass es kitschig oder gruselig wird. Dies ist eins, wo man sehr zufrieden sein kann. Rose of Kelvinrove oder Last of the Mohicans ist auch sowas. Auch das unvermeidliche Highland Chathedral ist so ein Lied. Es ist als deutscher Dudelsackspieler sehr interessant im Video plötzlich Bundespräsident Gauck und Prinzessin Anne zu sehen. Ich habe ihn sehr geschätzt. Der Bundespräsident hat in Deutschland eher eine Repräsentative Rolle und keine wirkliche Macht. Das ist Hindenburg zu verdanken der den Führer zum Kanzler erhoben hat. Wie das endete wissen wir alle zu gut. Gauck war sich seiner Rolle stets bewusst und war sich auch nicht an Weihnachten zu schade und hielt an einer Obdachlosen Versorgung um den Leuten ein schönes Fest zu wünschen obwohl er es laut Sicherheitsdienst nicht gefurft hätte und es nicht geplant war.

This happened when I was 17 and I was in the same band as Andy. As a band we played before and after the service. By this point we were already formed up outside to play and they had a big screen for the public to watch. The whole street was silent. Even us lot who had heard it on quite a few occasions were moved. Princess Anne and Timothy actually were not originally going to attend. It was supposed to be Prince Philip but he wasn't well in the couple days before it so they stepped in. Anne loves Orkney anyway so she was more than happy to. We never met the president but he seemed nice, I think he even gave us a nod and a smile as he walked by and you could tell that it meant a lot to him to be there and after looking into his history it's clear why. Members of the German Navy and Band also attended and were very friendly and actually acknowledged and interacted with us more than our own that had travelled from the mainland UK to attend. It was a very memorable and special occasion and was one of the biggest events to be held in Orkney. I'm certainly proud of the small part I had to play in it but even prouder that the two nations could come together to pay their mutual respects on our little island.
