Richard Ormond, grandnephew of John Singer Sargent and one of the foremost authorities on the painter and the man, joins Erica Hirshler, co-curator of "John Singer Sargent Watercolors," for an evening of conversation. This one-hour public lecture was presented on October 23, 2013, to a sold-out audience at the MFA's Remis Auditorium. Enjoy the insights of these two passionate scholars in an informal setting.

Masterfully researched and presented. It was an absolute joy to listen to and immerse in the world of one of the greatest watercolor artist of all times when watercolor as a painting medium was not that popular. Heartfelt Thank You.

One of the very best things I've ever seen on KZbin. So refreshing to listen to an eloquent, knowledgable and amusing speaker. Worlds away from the 'hey dude, wassup' brigade. Thank you for a truly insightful hour or so.

I would advise people to ignore critics and experts and judge any art for themselves. Sargent, in my opinion, was a masterful artist, regardless of age.

Full of the best information I have seen on you tube but likely some of the best information available to the unfamiliar. Thank you both for the passion you shared. I learned a great deal about the Sargent family members and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for allowing me to listen in on this quality conversation.

This was a very well done interview with John Singer Sargent's grandnephew, Richard Ormond. I must say that he is a very intelligent speaker. I was very surprised that JSS, didn't want to sell his paintings, other than consignment work for many years. However he wanted to sell them later in large groups. Perhaps to be able to see them for himself. Seems as if they were like children to him and wanted to visit them as family. He gave away a lot as gifts to friends and relative but, not individually. Most of his works are in the USA and not in London where he did a large part of his work. In his later life he moved to Boston, Massachusetts and also did murals which I didn't know that he did murals at all. This is quite long but well worth the time if you love his work as I do.

Oh boy, I imagine before I watch this I'm in for that British annoying tick of inserting 'sort of' into every sentence. Daphne Guinness does it and I hate it.

@@caligulalonghbottom2629 LOL - it's nice to see a kindred spirit. It drives me crazy too - along with "actually" which has, unfortunately, made its way across the pond and infected American discourse.
