Oh no, Aftersun jumpscare. For real though, Aftersun has two great doors: the one you mentioned and their hotel room door. In the Blur's "Tender" sequence after the song slows down and we get a glimpse of the kind of surreal strobbing mind of Sophie, the film immediately cuts to a shot of their hotel room door, which probably, maybe, not-so-sure symbolizes that part of Calum -- or our gateway to understanding him -- is locked away in that holiday resort in Turkey. And then Damon Albarn sings "help me" over and over again. I think I accidentally inflicted pain onto myself writing this.

I think one of my favorite doors in cinema has to be the metal sliding door in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It’s just so visually striking against the old creaky wood house. The first time we see it the antagonist is pulling a victim inside the room it covers. It closes with a cold strike. Even the music changes when it closes for the first time. It’s a perfect transition from the tension in the first act to the dread that permeates the second. It’s an excellent scene in a movie full of them. Also, shout out to the closing door at the end of The Godfather which I could also write a film school entrance essay about lol.
