A walk through Partick in Glasgow's West End, from Partickhill to Pointhouse, in search of the Partick of long ago. Along the way we look at Partick's early beginnings as a stronghold of the Kings of Strathclyde, its strong links with Govan over the River Clyde, and that first medieval mill that paved the way for many grain and flour mills along the banks of the River Kelvin, like the Bunhouse Mill, Regent Mill, Scotstown Mill and the Bishop Mill, the latter still standing.
Using old paintings, prints and maps, we piece together old Partick, and explore the only two buildings left over from the Partick of old before Partick's population expanded rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century and the Partick that we know today was developed.
We also look inside what is probably the only old-style tenement still standing in Partick, dating to perhaps the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century.
