Here in Brasil, there's a public department, it's called EMBRAPA, researching all those things that Mr. Hoorman told. You can find FOR FREE all their publications and field research on their website www.embrapa.br/en/international (english version).

This is normal farming in Central Europe for centuries. Not no till, but cover crop and one year of four no disturbance, just grass growing. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-field_system

Love these Diego, but why are the podcast clips only 7 minutes?

Some people just want a short clip on one specific topic, so I try to identify a few that are interesting and publish those as short clips.

I’d prefer not to have 6 short clips in my subscriptions when I’ve already seen the content, but a lot of people only watch short clips It’s good marketing

Diego, i bought some cover crop seeds for new raw land, and it is all treated with pesticides, should i plant it, only 2 to 5 acres.
@ranchoraccolto
@ranchoraccolto 3 жыл бұрын
the seeds are treated with pesticide? or fungicide? of the land? living roots is the best you can do to your land if you still have time to stablish something is better than nothing.

@@ranchoraccolto yea, i did not know they would be treated when i bought them, i have raw land that is covered in prickly pear and various weeds that the wild hogs root up periodically, i may throw it down on fresh hog rootings, but not in areas of future garden beds.

Saying sand becomes silt - silt becomes clay is a severe over simplification. This is very misleading. Humas is the word you are looking for and it is highly resistant to decomposition. Fragipanic horizons are largely a function of soil texture. There's a lot of sketchy information from Mr. Hoorman.

@@jekesainjikizana9734 For first year students "Soil Science and Management " by Plaster is commonly used. Search Soil Science Text books for several good choices. To obtain reliable information I would avoid most KZbin videos. Lots of amatures who really don't know what their talking about. your local cooperative extension service is a great service.

@@gilshelley9183 Thanks for the heads up on the text for a cross reference. There were inaccuracies in what this guy has said (like golf greens needing to grow out to have deep roots) but Diego also interviews PHds who are former professors, who have said the same thing about the sand/silt/clay. The problem with settled science is that everyone KNEW and AGREED that a heavier ball would fall faster than a lighter one for thousands of years. Then Galileo showed up. Also, there is a financial incentive for universities to tow the chemical ag line, when a portion of their money for grants come from chemical companies.

@@jeanetteinthisorn4955 Actually I have been in academia for 40 years and the influence of agrochemical industries on higher education is highly exaggerated. I would have been fired for as much as taking a pen from a salesmen. In some states is actually illegal. I offer my poverty as an exzample.

@@gilshelley9183 Your poverty also indicates that you are not part of the Chinese Communist Party's Thousand Tallents Progam. Some scientists, researchers and academics throughout the world receive tens of thousands per month. It is illegal in their respective countries. Just because they didn't approach you, doesn't mean that obscene amounts of money are not being spent. It simply means that you are not useful to their agenda.
