If this was a weekly show I'd watch it religiously.

What a soothing presence a gently-but-enthusiastically rambling Stephen Fry is. His voice is aging so well. This could've been twice as long.

I love that particular muffle that library bookstack, paper gives to a voice. It evokes the smell of old books in me!

It's a shame that this video has so few views and comments as I type this. I was lovely hearing Stephen's commentary on the various artefacts from the RAH archive. I for one would love to hear from more people who have links to the venue.

An ideal combination hitherto unrealised; the Royal Albert Hall's archives reinvigorated by Stephen Fry as he regales us in his mellifluent tones with effortlessly considered tales.

Our President would be more than welcome here at the Fareham and Gosport Wellbeing Centre in Gosport, Hampshire, any time - rarely has anybody taken on such an honorary, superficial kind of role, and chosen to apply themselves to it with all the dedication, commitment and passion of a full-time employee.

Anyone else get the feeling Stephen may have, if left to himself, just spent days wandering through the archives

stephen, if we don't use "gay" any more, replacing it with queer, why are you still using "straight" for the rest of us, and what is the correct term? hoping this finds you well, i remain, etc.
@maluse22729 күн бұрын
because in our current use of the term gay is not an umbrella term within the community it refers to, queer is the preferred language for many since it includes everyone in the LGBTQ2A+ community. As for the use of the term straight, yall could argue you want to go by heteros, or something else nothings really stopping you, thats just the term thats used.
@rewIndustry29 күн бұрын
@@maluse227 i was talking to fry, actually, but the problem is that "straight" has many negative connotations, similar to "suit" or "the establishment" in early sixties slang. so you can be as queer as you like, but (one step at a time and i am talking to you personally) please stop calling us straight.
@maluse22729 күн бұрын
@@rewIndustry What word would you like? And where are you hearing straight used as derogatory? The term straightTM is close but still doesnt really meet the threshold for what you seem to be describing.

he's been quite critical of Israel and especially Netanyahu. Also where has he supported the war on Palestine?. if one christmas message which pointed out the rise in Anti semetism has led you to believe it, it's quite sad.

@@identidem Imagine someone publicly stating with pride during the reign of the Nazis that they've just found out they were German. Not a good time to display that pride. .
@tompianohotmailАй бұрын
@@craigroaringyou’re either deliberately or ignorantly missing his point, which is that despite what Isreal is doing, attacks against Jewish people in the UK are completely unjustifiable. To use your analogy, it’s as if anyone who happened to be German living in Britain during the rise of Nazi Germany was attacked because of the actions of a dictatorial governmental system in their own country, over which they have no control. Quote from him: Does your Judaism have an effect on your approach to what’s going on in Israel? Alarm and fear at the rise of antisemitism. The contempt, fear and horror I feel for Netanyahu and his government is matched only by the contempt, horror and fear I feel for Hamas.
