this interview is good because it's involving an artist. always good to see / hear a visual artist be passionate about the work.

I usually don’t go for the “what’s in my bag” videos, but when it’s a real pro who gives you this kind of insight into their work and thought process it can be amazing. Usually it’s just some knucklehead trying to sell you the latest camera.

Seeing stuff like this just gets you down to the basics...almost feeling bad for having a 5D3, i should really get away from all the technical stuff and just go out shoot ...

Great one! It's interesting to see a photographer not using the newest/latest gear (except for fast primes) and doing big jobs with it.

Probably the Ee-S for the 5D Mark I or Eg-S for the Mark II. Areas out of focus appear more out of focus, so it's easier to tell if you're tack or not. It only works with fast glass of 2.8 or faster, otherwise you'll just see a dark and grainy picture.

he talked a lot about eyes in focus in 2011, and in 2018, he's switching to Sony A7R iii, I think I know the reason why :)

In 1947 the Speed Graphics had modern leaf shutters, made by Ilex, Compur or Prontor and a top speed of 1/500 sec.

Yes, and it slows things down and makes more concentrated. He probably takes one picture, where others needs tens or hundreds...

Some of the photos that came out of that 4x5 looks like tilt shift stuff.

Now we get pissed when the corners fall off, lol. Funny when you see someone still doing the Holga. I remember when I had to edit, I became the picky focus stickler one and still am.

Does anyone know what the "auxiliary screen for $25 bucks" he talks about is actually called?

David switched to Sony just before the Winter Olympics in South Korea. I'd be very curious to see his work from this last Olympics, but haven't seen it anywhere online. If anyone has a link to examples of this recent work, please post it.
