I was in one of the high school choirs chosen to perform in this when it played at the Cadillac Palace Theater in Chicago in the fall of 2022. I still remember how magical it felt to be on that stage singing this song and fulfilling a dream of mine to be on Broadway. I cry every time I listen to this, I just feel so grateful for this

I played Father in last year's production of Children of Eden. I hated this musical with a passion and still do. Granted, the music is rather beautiful.

freepotatoez I think the biggest issue people have with the show is that Father seems like the antagonist to atheists/non-Catholics-Christians etc. I'm Catholic so I really don't see a problem with the show, especially since it was written by the dude who wrote Wicked and Godspell

@@sawyer6264 The show isn't actually about religion, it's just using the book of Genesis as a metaphor for a story about the relationship between parents and their children. Father is portrayed as a flawed parent just like all the other parents in the show, which is basically a long story of parents trying to "fix" their kids and only ruining them, only for them to grow up and ruin their kids in turn, until finally Noah breaks the chain by just accepting Japeth as he is instead of what Noah wants him to be. So yeah, if you're looking for a theologically accurate account of the old testament, you're not going to be happy, but if that's what you're looking for you've missed the entire point of the musical.
