Heroes every bloody one of them, Ulster will always be indebted to this Regiment for what they prevented and achieved in the early 70s. We haven't forgotten your loss on Bloody Friday.

The higher the rank of the officer, the crappier the beret gets. Fact.

I'm Anglo/Scot/Welsh/German/American, but more than half Welsh. I must be. I was in Wales 11 years ago and I guess I looked too Welsh. I had a bunch of transvestites in Cardiff where I was come up to me and started speaking to me in Welsh! I said "Sorry, I may look Welsh but I don't speak the language." I'm proud of The Welsh Guards and the whole British Army. I love them.

Anglo scot welsh german american? Fuck me you are full on hippocroccapig
Pretty sure i'm the only one to catch this (am i?) but at 10:31, the soldier with his top off has an Egon Schiele tattoo? So very obscure. You couldn't write it...

The sleeping while on duty issue could do with amplification ie was it they were noticed to have drifted off while having to stare in space at night for two hours after ten hours digging or were they fully snuggled down for the night in gonk bags? The rather tin pot feigned rage from the Major is hard to listen to.
@kevinadamson57682 жыл бұрын
No they got caught gonking on stag, falling asleep on sentry duty, a big no no in Northern Ireland and usually carried a sentence of 6 months in Colchester.
@superbr0ws0152 жыл бұрын
It's quite clear from what was said that this wasn't a stand alone incident though. The bloke in question had not only got caught sleeping on sentry during operations, he had also been involved In another incident deemed important enough to warrant the CO'S involvement the week before, and serious enough for his Chain Of Command to have to convince the CO to bury it under the carpet, or considerably lessen the punishment.

@@superbr0ws015 yeah couldn't keep awake otherwise a good soldier he didn't really want to lose . Big no-no though sleeping on stag .

So many stereotypes; officers needing haircuts, belts over Combat jackets and smoking in their offices. And who bollocks someone as part of a Charge? Oh and red trousers in civvies? Big bullseye for anyone outside the Army to spot who's an Officer...

Are all offers stuck up toffs or are there any guys from council estates who make it in the BA
@fod1855 Жыл бұрын
Because an officer is from an upper class background, does not make him a "stuck up toff". If you have the education, sense and wits, there is nothing stopping you from becoming an officer in the army. It's also important that officers fit in and having a separation of background and education from soldiers is no bad thing.
@mline250 Жыл бұрын
Not all.
@KMilton-iw2tk7 ай бұрын
Mostly they really were stuck up toffs back in those days. Almost exclusively they were toffs in the Infantry and certainly in the Guards. Probably more down to earth in non Infantry units I imagine. Pretty sure it's not nearly as bad as that nowadays.
