I did this to give mine a better approach without a strict aggressive chop .I think it keeps most of the bumper which I like.

Thanks man. Very helpful video. I opted for cutting 2 inches below instead of one and it came out great but mostly cause of your video! Keep up the good work man.

How has the bumper performed? Wondering if it is rigid enough with less attachment points?
@jusimplicit3 жыл бұрын
I’ve taken my bumper off and on so many times already for light mods that I’ve lost half the bolts that button up those corners, lol. I’m gonna do this cut soon since I might as well 😂 zero issues with a flapping bumper or anything
@mobius0124 жыл бұрын
Great mod. Curious why at the end you bent the mount up to hide it. Why not just use a grinder and cut off the end?
@davidpainter69403 жыл бұрын
In case he wanted to return it to stock he had the mount bracket
@yotaman4922 жыл бұрын
I just bent it up by hand, doesn't need to go up much to be hidden.

Thank you for this video! I love this cut! How did you go about covering up the exposed areas when you trimmed away the fender liner? Especially the passenger side where the washer fluid resevoir is located? Also, what kind of dremel/blade is that you're using?

Do you have a FB page or website with pictures of your 4runner after this mod? Would like to see some from the sides and further away to see the entire front end.
@jimduncan30042 жыл бұрын
So you cut the plastic wheel well liner allowing mud and water to splash into your fog light, et. al. Couldn’t you do this cut and reset the liner? The only fail I see with your cut angle that I like.
@Liberty-Works11113 жыл бұрын
Love it but would have added a black edge protector to bring the black finder flair color down... not to mention, leaving raw plastic and paint edge will eventually cause the paint to let go... Just a matter of time or a good edge hit that then will be tough to hide... Other than that, I love it & intend to do it. Thanks!

Question, I got a 5gen 4Runner, got bigger tires, it’s rubbing on the fender liners, what’s the best way and cheapest way to fix the rubbing? Level kit? Remove and modify the fender liners? Thanks
@Ruston_smith4 жыл бұрын
Just push the fender liner forward. You can simply undo the bolt that attaches into the bottom of the liner, push it forward, drill a new hole and put the bolt back in.
@4condors4 жыл бұрын
Overlanding USA thank you.. and one think I forgot, it always rubs on the mud flaps... anyway best way to also fix the issue? Maybe take off the mud flaps( but I like on ) or maybe shave off a little from it? Thanks again
@Ruston_smith4 жыл бұрын
@@4condors It depends on where it is rubbing, if its rubbing the mud flap then take it off, if its not rubbing then leave it and do the front.
@airbagsagent18964 жыл бұрын
@@Ruston_smith guys you can use a heatgun. To stretch the plastic
@IntoTheMystery133 ай бұрын
The cut looks great, but you can do better than bending back that support bracket. It wouldn't take much to cut it off, round it over, and paint it.
@MrSatchelpack10 ай бұрын
It looks like you painted your valance. What spray paint did you use?
I did this Mod and it came out GREAT! Now I have my focus on a Snorkel. Looking at a Prado Snorkel, but trying to find information on the install has proven difficult.

@thecatch836 жыл бұрын
I like this idea, but it looks unfinished. Too bad you couldn’t add a small coping along the cut fron the black fender flare. The bending of the attachment point also looks like it could be better thought out.
@roelcalabitin36506 жыл бұрын
you could always cut it instead of bending it out of the way for a cleaner look
@MiGGsixoye6 жыл бұрын
I like this look as well. SSO sells rubber liners for the edges for their stage 2, I’m sure could be used for this mod. That stage 2 requires their bumper as well, so this stage one is a great start.
@Anon-ft1yb6 жыл бұрын
I really love how this looks, but I'm not a big fan of leaving the fog light connections wide open to mud/water/salt. Any future plans to maybe fabricate some plastic fender lining to keep those components covered up? The metal tab that was bent up could still be utilized. Thanks for the video!!
@Ruston_smith6 жыл бұрын
That would be killer. But probably not. I ran with chopped fender liner for years when i had the full front on the truck. So it’s not much of a concern to me.
@Anon-ft1yb6 жыл бұрын
@@Ruston_smith Makes sense. I tend to worry a lot about some things that will be fine either way lol

Who is coming up with numbering of stage 1 and stage 2? I understand mfg-ers can call their products into stages but when you do manual mod yourself by cutting it naming it stage 1 seems strange. Am i missing something here?

Thanks for the video. Have you had any problems with the rigidity of the bumper in the time since you’ve done this mod?
@jeremygesser38773 жыл бұрын
Did you notice any difference in road noise after the chop? I assume this can also be used to help rubbing with bigger tires.
@spencergraham76826 жыл бұрын
Wondering if same could be done on 2017 Tacoma TRD? I also have the same 4Runner- did bummer start to make noise? And will this create problem if we go with full high clearance bumper in future??
@Ruston_smith6 жыл бұрын
spencer graham no noise at all. The bumper is still fixed at all but one of the factory points. So it’s very sturdy. I do not think it would effect your ability to go full as most of those are a much much more aggressive cut
