Back in 2015 my mother brought me a Christmas gift that has been given back to me again and again. She bought me the book My Kitchen Year. As a teenager and young mother I would scour thrift shops and flea markets for old Gourmet magazines. I had files of recipes I wanted to try and those I made again and again. I had an entire collection of the last touch where my favorite was the radishes with the cream cheese butter and chive topping. When she got me this book my husband of 24 years had died 5 years before and I was not in ‘my cooking year’ but I did make her the deviled eggs soaked in the beet pickling juice overnight. She loved it and I’ve made it for other occasions. It was just last year that I picked up the book and read it like it should be read. Every word every recipe every memory. I don’t get to cook for sons very often and no more grand parties like I used to throw but I still would rather be in the kitchen than anywhere else. Thank you!

Yes yes and yes! I feel like you do, I have an old juicer that belong to my mom and a garlic press that was my grandma’s best friend! I use them all the time! I wish we were friends! You filled my heart with warm joy!

Superb photography and editing, enjoyed this immensely and forwarded it to others. Ruth and Alice Waters, we owe them so much. New Age American cooks...joyful in the kitchen, so ready to teach and share what they've learned.

Sanni Epstein Don't be dramatic. Buy a Diptyque candle like a normal person and cook.
