But because of the statute of limitations;neither the detectives nor the scientists who supplied shoddy evidence could not be held accountable. The scientist handled 6000 cases before questions were asked about his conduct, and he was suspended in 1978, suspected of negligence. The purpose was to allow both police and forensic scientists to examine his standard of work and whether or not he was working to the required standards. Faults were found in more than 1500 cases; including murders, s@#ual assaults, robberies, thefts, etc. Eventually, the scientist was told to retire due to 'limited efficiency'. He made the evidence fit the detective's initial suspicions, it never entered his head that he could put an innocent person behind bars or send them to the gallows. The scientist had been working for over 20 years before he was caught. So criminal action was impossible, he could only have his credentials revoked. Which is, for any professional, pretty brutal. It means none of that lucrative agency work. There was a petition for both the scientist and the detectives to be tried for perjury and acts or omissions intended to pervert the course of justice. However, the maximum length of time between the offence and prosecution is five years. The now ex-detectives were charged in 1993, 19 years after the actual offence had been committed.

The people who actually carried out that horrific bombing were caught attempting something else; knew their gooses were cooked anyway; so they ACTUALLY CONFESSED IN FULL TO THE GUILFORD BOMBING, and said "you've got a bunch of completely innocent people, who aren't even IRA members or supporters in prison for something that they had nothing to do with!!", and they provided details only the actual bombers would have known to prove what they were saying - the authorities, including the Government of the day, in Britain didn't want to hear it, because then they'd have had to admit that they fvcked up - especially when one of the innocent DIED in their prison!!!... *DISGUSTING AND DISPICABLE DOESN'T EVEN START TO DESCRIBE IT!!!!*
