Saw these guys live at Whitby, it was my first time ever hearing of them, and let me tell you, if you've heard them live, no studio recorded version will never be as good. They are AMAZING! The drums go right through you!

@ Scott Baker They are actually a fusion of genre pulling elements from Neo Classical, Dark Wave, Electronic and Militant Industrial Music. People commonly just call them Militant Electronic. No need to be worried about offered anyone either. The rich and cinematic sound of the music is specifically what they set out to accomplish. They have even done soundtrack work of their own.

Scott Baker stated that this sounds like it is from a soundtrack. Indeed the album Engel is a soundtrack to a table top Role Playing Game. The English translation was published by White Wolf in 2002, however the genre would still best be described as Neo-Classical as a soundtrack can be instrumentals like this one is to what is basically a Top 40 collection. The setting is a Post Apocalyptic Europe after a plague called the Vitus Dance has wiped out all of the adult population in the 2200s. In the wake of that a Europe was united under the Angeletic Church which has basically recreated the trappings of Dark Ages Europe, with a few changes. The Church also controls the military & has forbidden advanced technology to be used or studied. Only the clergy is literate & then all writing is in Latin. One of the largest changes from Medieval Europe is the virtual "air force," of the church, winged humans called the Engel, who look nothing like the children taken from rural villages, exactly what are you implying?!? The church is headed by it's founder Peter Segundus the Pontefex Maximus. He founded the church 80 years ago as a child of 12 in the wake of the Vitus Dance at the age of 12 & hasn't seemed to age a day since, again the Church says it is proof of a miracle & not use of the very technology the forbid others to use. The Engel are needed to defend against giant mutant insects the Church says are servants of The Lord Of The Flies, (yes I believe the literary reference is intentional.) The game runs on the D20 Modern system & can be found easily for sale. It is a fascinating setting & I recommend it if you play Table Top RPSs. The Amazon listing for the soundtrack mistakenly lists it as a video game soundtrack, but it is intended to be music for the setting of a book style RPG. www.amazon.com/Engel-White-Wolf-Publishing/dp/1588461238/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414291616&sr=8-1&keywords=Engel+RPG www.amazon.com/Engel-Soundtrack-Video-Game-Nursery/dp/B002IERVLM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414292541&sr=8-1&keywords=Engel+Soundtrack+In+the+Nursery

@ernator2000 Can you tell me more about ITN music being used on this "Hilbert Hotel" film? Many Thanks

I am not ernator2000, but I do remember coming across it once. It was not a film, per se; it was a short animated video about a mathematical paradox, and it used New Religion as the background music. The Hilbert Hotel is named for David Hilbert, a German mathematician. According to Wikipedia, in 1924, he demonstrated that a fully occupied hotel with infinitely many rooms may still accommodate additional guests, even infinitely many of them, and this process may be repeated infinitely often. If I ever find that video again, I'll certainly let you know.

Would anyone be offended if I said this sounds like movie score/soundtrack music? Please educated me if the genre is defined with a widely accepted name.

It IS a score. For the tabletop roleplaying game Engel. 😉
