I just love jako's setup, while it seems super robust and I'm sure can get as complicated as one would like! But it's just so clean and minimal in appearance considering just how much "horsepower" she's got sitting on that desk! I'd love to build myself something similar one day

Lovely setup and approach to music making! I wonder how JakoJako makes the #MIDIclock from Ableton Live workable 🤷🏼♂️ I never could make it work, always drifted after some minutes. Unstable, jittered. I ditched the computer for making music and in hardware world, it just works. Not as stable and tight as DINsync, which is my favourite now. I went with an E-RM #multiclock because I like having the flexibility to choose DINsync or MIDI clock plus the additional features like clock division and nudging per channel. Still amazed how Sibel made it work. Please do elaborate :-)
@Systemv12 жыл бұрын
As far as your midi drifting issues are concerned - were you using USB midi or a midi cable?
@wackerburg2 жыл бұрын
@@Systemv1 Normal MIDI cabling from an to the RME Babyface. Which is of course connected via USB. That being said, this MIDI-jittered-clock problem is known for ages now, hence the existance of companies/products like the E-RM multiclock, Innerclock Systems or the ACME-4 by SND. To me it was unbearable. Funky in a bad way.
@Systemv12 жыл бұрын
@@wackerburg Interesting, I've not had any noticeable issues with an RME Babyface, midi cable, Live 10, and a Windows i7 machine. What OS and version of Live were you using? One thing I have noticed was certain software (eg Massive X) causing huge internal, and by proxy probably external, jitter issues, to the point where midi DAW was unusable, but only at high sample rates.
@wackerburg2 жыл бұрын
@@Systemv1 I am on OSX (not the latest one, but not too far behind, don't know right now) and Ableton Live 10.
@in_10z2 жыл бұрын
I've used Live's clock for over 10 years with zero MIDI sync issues. I'm syncing about 20 devices with zero issues. I'd look into your computer's specs. Perhaps you're under powered.

Very interesting, and a nice presentation. I've seen JakoJako on here (YT) many times, but only really heard her music properly recently, sounds great. On a side note, why is everybody's studio always neat and tidy, yet mine seems to be rather untidy ...?
@repasiv2 жыл бұрын
I bet they knew when the film crew was coming and made it tidy just right in time.
