Join me, Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori, in the wild as I go #shopping for #vintage Corningware patterns, revealing marks and telling you the values people really pay for Corningware pieces based on actual sales. Watch me find, identify and value Cornflower Blue, Spice of Life or La Marjolaine, Wildflowers, and French White patterns.
See what to spot on pieces as I find a good price on a Corningware tea pot. Plus, don't be confused by a popular pattern made by both Corelle and Corningware and see a 1970s percolator coffee pot. All this and more during my #thrifting trip in Winter Park, Florida near Orlando, FL at the Orange Tree Antiques Mall.

Some of that Corning Ware is in perfect condition and it reminds me of my mother. For Christmas one year I bought her a new nighty and housecoat. I stopped over early one morning to have coffee with her and she answered the door wearing her worn thin ratty old nightgown. I asked her if she didn’t like the set I bought her and she replied “I’m saving it for good”. Maybe a lot of those corning ware pieces were only used for special (good) occasions. Thanks Dr Lori, I learn something every time - lip and dip = 80’s.

I think we had the same mom. I made my mom some new aprons once and she refused to wear them...said they were “for good.” I asked her for where...church???? That got her laughing.

Dr. Lori I just love watching you! I also collect the CorningWare French White. It’s definitely my favorite! Growing up in the 70’s my mom had the entire Blue Cornflower set, she used them in the oven, on the stove. We had the flat top stove. She had all the lids, handles, coffee pot, you name it she had it. Lol I also collect the Heritage White Pflatzgraff…I would love to see a video on that pattern. ❤

Looking at that collection/table was like being in my family kitchen in the 70s. My mom used the little tea pot. She'd make it full for when my uncle stopped in, and he would drink most of it as he had tea, with sugar and milk. I got my Pyrex as wedding gifts in 1987, and it's all still going strong, including some French White. :)

I think one reason we younger people are interested in the older kitchen pieces is because we can’t get many quality, USA made items for a good price any more. A lot of manufacturing left the US a few decades ago, so it’s something we appreciate because we’re experiencing the shortage of quality. Also, a lot of us are learning how much we enjoy being home with our family, and that definitely necessitates spending time in the kitchen. I think the older dishes are a bit of a symbol that we’re trying to restore something that was lost in the generations before us.

Hi @DR Lori. Glad you are back this week! Busy, busy.~ I want to make a request, that you possibly do some more 2-D and 3-D art segments please. I wanted to also mention that I read something very disconcerting today when online. It was an advert-post from so-and-so 'estate' sales. In the post, there was an object for consideration, and it is a nice piece. Yet, someone simply commented, "I have one just like that. Value?" -It was said with great indelicacy.... I thought that both this sort of behavior would make for a good 'Rants and Raves' segments- on two points mentioned here. Thanks!~

I love your videos and yes, I’m 35 and was just telling my mom I want all the vintage Pyrex, Corning ware, and Corelle dishes.. what set me off into wanting the vintage stuff is just better quality.. I received a set of new dishes two years ago for Xmas and they’re terrible! I’ll be washing or drying them and they’ll just snap in half in my hands. I’m sick and tired of my bakeware flaking and having to throw it out and buy new every 6+ years.. I have three children and I’m starting to be more strict on what comes in to our house as far as toys too. I want stuff that’s going to last and not cheap plastic toys that break after a few uses. If that means I have to pay more for quality items, then I’ll do it but I’m just so sick and tired of how everything is made so cheap now.

I never knew about the Corning and correll ware having the same pattern. I remember that pattern everywhere back then. I really liked it. Not caring about those mostly brown patterns. I bought a pretty pattern small rectangle Corning baker so my daughter had something to use in her large counter top oven. She loves it so I’ve been on the lookout for others that fit her oven.
