The sad reality is a lot of us, especially some of us that grew up with immigrant parents, end up very sheltered from reality because foe the first 18 years they don't let us experience any of the things that's most others do...then from 18 to 25, you may be in in college and schooling, which shelters you alot of time from reality too. Depending on your personality it may also be a period of just incredibly naive mistakes because that's when you're experiencing what others experienced before 18.
